We had read the reviews, the place has only been open 2 months, so figured on trying it out. The location is in Gastown, where there are a plethora of dining choices. Long bar, lots of different seating (long communal table or scattered smaller ones), chairs not comfortable, music too loud to have an intimate conversation without the next table overhearing. We had a couple of items from the "bites" menu - small mushroom caps stuffed with some wilted greens, and a piece of dry duck, overall, not much flavour to this one. Next up was salmon tartare, in an endive leaf, if you start from the butt end you did get a hit of the bitterness, which dissipated as you crunch through the 2-3 bites. It was ok. The last dish we had was a spot prawn special, the tails were separated from the heads, tails covered(slathered) in a green turnip sauce, accompanied by pickled turnip slices (nice), a black squid ink sauce, and the aforementioned heads were deep fried. Mixed reviews on this, such lovely spot prawns disappeared below too much sauce, and the heads 'fought back' due to the sharp antennae/legs, etc. squid ink was pleasant tasting, but the dish was a bit of a mess, and a bit too much salt. With 2 glasses of BC wine, our bill was just under $70, too much for what we had.
