Don't let the photos on the official website fool you. This place is a DUMP. I have stayed in some bare-bones places before, but this was ridiculous. The fact that they were charging over $60 for a private room for two people is a ripoff. Do yourself the favor and spend the extra $40, and go to a real motel or hotel, even if it is on the other side of the Cambie bridge. There are buses and taxis to get you around. It was so disgusting we did not stay the night. We feared bedbugs and low and behold, reading the other reviews, thank goodness we moved on! Wish I had seen this site before booking it. The bunk beds go right up to the low paper ceiling, which is stained all over and hanging/sagging down in the face of the top bunk sleeper. You are afraid to breathe in. It was so filthy we were afraid to sit down. The upholstered chair was covered in too many stains and fluids to mention. There are nice large cracks between the floor and wall. I only wonder what crawls in the dark. Plus we had no electricity in our room, so forget even getting up at night to go to the bathroom. (Didn't explore those but can only imagine.) After we decided we just couldn't stay there, we were told we would get no refund at the front desk. Ah well, chalk it up to experience. Plus think of the money we saved in medical bills avoiding picking up any weird bugs or fungus!

Don't stay here if it is the last place left in Vancouver - sleep in the street - it would certainly be much cleaner. My boyfriend and I have been travelling round the world for the last couple of years and this is by far the grossest place we've had the misfortune to stay in. We booked a double room and after only 2 hours asleep, woke up to find the bed infested with bedbugs - and not just a couple - there were at least 20 crawling around and at least 4 different species. It was obvious that they hadn't just popped up over night - the place had clearly been infested for days.

We went to the reception staff at 1am in the morning to check out and the man at the desk had the audacity to ask us why it had taken us so long to notice! He wasn't shocked to hear that the place was crawling and obviously didn't care. He wasn't even going to give us any money back until I mentioned that we had taken pictures of the bed crawling with bugs. Even then he only gave us back a partial refund.

The next morning we discovered we were covered in bites - thank god we woke up only after 2 hours asleep. What makes me really angry is that I can guarantee the room had someone else in it the next night with nothing having been done about the infestation.

We've stayed in a large range of places on our trip and this place is the worst hostelling experience we have had and gives a bad name to hostelling in general.

Rooms with interior view are awful, rooms facing the street are better. There is a private room on the corner that is huge. Bathroom was dirty. I left my watch on the table in my private room, came back and the housekeeper had been, and my watch was gone. Front desk staff were terrible, couldn't have cared less.
The breakfast we got on the first day was yummy, but we stayed for a week, and only got the free breakfast on day one.
Location was ok, right on the edge of the no go zone, gets a bit scary if you head away for Vancouver. I wouldn't stay here again, much better hostels on Granville st and the HI near English Bay.

never ever stay here! the doorman of the pub is rude and cheeky, ripping drinks out of your hand without saying a word when you head out for a smoke and don´t know exactly the ridiculousy strict rules of this [--], or, am, vancouver (?)...the rooms are a joke, with chewing gum and all kinda dirt in the beds..smoking is forbidden anyway..

at the end, when you are leaving, you have to remove the plumeau case by your own...what that should be?
