Corkscrew Inn

We stayed at the Corkscrew Inn for 4 nights on our arrival in Canada, and loved it! The room (Art Deco) was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Marnie was very welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were delicious! There were tea and coffee making facilities available for guests at any time of the day. This B&B is very near to several bus routes, so was convenient for travelling into town. Buses in Vancouver are frequent and the drivers very helpful! - so it didn't matter that we hadn't hired a car. The beach was only one block away. We cannot find any fault with this B&B -a very high standard indeed, and just as good if not better than a 5 star hotel.

We stayed here 2 nights immediately on arrival from the UK. This place has everything you will need- clean comfortable rooms (with great quality bed), good ensuite, we even had a little private patio. The staff could not be more helpful. Marnie, the live-in manager is a delight and cooks great breakfasts. Be sure to meet Wayne, the owner who has an obsession with not only corkscrews but bottle openers in general and probably has sampled their contents with just as much enthusiasm! Both freely give their time to guide the novice Vancouver explorer.Wayne's wife made the customised stained glass windows which compliment the bottle-opening theme perfectly.
The Inn is situated in a quiet residential area and parking is easy just on the street. It's probably a bit too far to walk downtown but the public transport system is brilliant and close-by making downtown or the university area with the Museum of Anthropology and Botanic Gardens equally accessible.

“Great B&B”

We have just arrived back from a holiday in Vancouver and found the Corkscrew Inn delightful. We were in the Arizona room which has its own patio garden. We were entertained by Wayne who cooked the delicious breakfasts. The house is in a very pleasant area which is mainly Edwardian houses. It's near the beach and lots of shops and restaurants. While Kitsalano is mainly residential it's only 10 minutes by bus to downtown making it a good base from which to explore Vancouver.

My wife and I were in Vancouver last week and stayed at the Corkscrew Inn. We travel a lot for my business and always try to stay at B&B's whenever possible. Our experience at the Corkscrew Inn was wonderful, and we would certainly go back.
The B&B is a charming Arts and Crafts home built in 1912 and recently restored. We enjoyed the great attention to detail that is evident throughout the house and in our room. The bed was very comfortable and we felt at home. Our room (the Edwardian) was small but very cozy and right next to the dining room and kitchen.
We did not see the other rooms which are upstairs but they are apparently somewhat larger.
The location of the Inn is in the Kitsilano neighborhood in West Vancouver, close to the university. There are many shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. Parking on the street was quite easy, except during the evening of fireworks.
Aside from the charms and comforts of the house, our hosts Marnie and Wayne really made us feel welcome. One morning when I had to leave early for my conference, Marnie prepared a breakfast plate for me to have later when I got back. In all our travels, this has never happened before! The gourmet breakfasts were delicious, above and beyond the usual fare. For example, one day Wayne bought fresh Salmon and smoked it in the backyard and we had it the next morning in our eggs. The jellies are all homemade. We could go on and on.

In short, everything about the stay was exceptional and we give it our strongest recommendation.

We have just returned from 3 wonderful nights at the Corkscrew Inn. We have travelled all over the globe (Europe, Asia, North America, Australia, Morocco etc) and have never stayed in a B&B that would come close to the Corkscrew Inn. Lovely rooms, unobtrusive (though extremely helpful) hosts and great breakfasts. On top of this, the Corkscrew Inn is in a fantastic location that is convenient to everything you will want to see and do whilst in Vancouver.
