I'm not sure what warrants "Downtown Vancouver". However, we've walked Canada Place and watched the cruise ships go in and out. We've also walked around Gas Town, named after Gassy Jack. Be sure to stop at the gas clock for a photo op! There are many shops and restaurants in this area. A short stroll over is China Town, which is always a wonderful place to shop or eat. The small park in China Town is a beautiful area to sit and admire the koi and just soak up that peaceful feeling. Although the large department stores of yesteryear are gone (mostly), there are still many places to shop and eat "downtown". There are a few nice parks, plenty of hotels, and some nice movie theaters as well. Quite often, there are demonstrations or parades. We hit a very strange one on our last trip -- a "Zombie Parade". Nearby, there is also Stanley Park. Here you can enjoy the totem poles, see lots of geese - plus other small critters - also watch the cruise ships, bike, hike, soak up the sun. Plus they have a wonderful little aquarium in Stanley Park.
