“Great Coffee!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

My husband and I stopped in at the recommendation of a friend who works at Museo (in Saskatoon,SK). It didn't disappoint! We both had a latte and I had a croissant and my husband had a scone. It was all very good and the coffee shop had a nice atmosphere. The street that it is on was a bit tricky to access, but it was amazing how busy the traffic was around the shop, but once you were on the street, it was a quiet little retreat from the busyness of Vancouver.

“Where the hipsters wake up”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

These guys and gals are serious about coffee. No brewed coffee here - you get your cup dripped to perfection. They roast onsite. They bake amazingly delicious (and super-rich) muffins onsite. The people at Matchstick are fierce about doing it right.

Which is why on any given day, the three tables and gigantic communal table are full, and there is a line of young people dressing in the style of their grandparents waiting for their cuppa.

The bread is exceptionally good and the sandwiches they make with it, even better. There is a love affair for brie here, but my favourite sandwich is the beet/pesto/sprout concoction. An unlikely combination that makes my tastebuds dance when I am in the mood for a sandwich.

It is worth the trip to this funky little commercial pie of buildings at Fraser St. and 16th, but parking can be a bit tricky. Or you can luck out and get a spot right in front.

“Great coffee, tons of younguns though:)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

We popped into this place and I had my best coffee of the trip which is saying a lot since vancouver is peppered with coffee shops. The coconut, orange muffin was to die for as well. The crowd was all very young and hip, so it was good people watching too.
