Hector - night manager very gruff, no social skills. Day time manager very good and helpful.
I was in a dorm room and had a very strange room mate; never left the room, never said anything and smelled VERY bad. The place over than room mate was pretty clean.

Its one of the cheaper hostels but its in a crap location there is nothing around & only a couple of blocks away from junkies/homeless ppl. You may as well pay more money to stay in city in a nicer place instead of wasting your money on the skytrain! Only 1 shower for a whole floor of about 25ppl u wait about 20 mins when u want to use it! Not social at all. No ventilation in the rooms they stink&they are so hot!

Yep, it's ok. Good location; Chinatown has cheap produce and it's close, TnT for the sushi after 8pm, the train/bus station, etc. Problem is some of the long-term renters(over one year); they want you to follow their rules; in a public place?

But it's clean, and the long-termers keep it that way so there yah go.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Showers and toliets are fine also BUT! the location is poor and the atmosphere sucks!!! never have I been in a hostel that has no social connection with anybody at all. Everybody just looks and seems miserable.Hobos are everywhere pestering for money and cigs and be carefull leaving the hostel on sundown, the people loitering around the streets at that time are leeches of the worst minority.
We have stayed in alot of hostels and this is definatly one of the worst ones. It does have free internet and is cheap, I would recommend getting a private room if you are going to stay here. Sink in the room which is one up just a shame the water doesnt really run or drain.

Room Tip: Choose a private room, you might not want to share rooms with some of the people here.

Clean, comfortable,casual....yet still professional. You provided a haven for me so unexpectedly. Lovely homey atmosphere and friendly.

I actually stayed her for 4 LONG months from noviember to february. I was looking for work and university in Vancouver at the time.

I guess that is the slow season there, and they rent beds to anyone who can pay the price, including drug dealers/users, prostitutes, and all kinds of down & out down riff raft.

they have 2 equiped kitchens that are locked up at 10pm, then open again whenever the desk person feels like unlocking the door.

the 1st room I was in had mice, so I complained and they put me in a new room, with a schizophrenic construction worker that went off his meds and would wander around the hostel at night...naked. they kicked him out after afew episodes of that.

the hostel is next to a loud bar, so weekends can be hard to get a decent sleep from bands playing there.

I have done my fair share of travelling and staying in hostels in Canada and Internationally, and this is by far the worst hostel I have ever stayed at. It was a bit cheaper than other hostels in Vancouver, but it was SO not worth saving a few bucks for. There was a sink in my room and there were bugs coming up from the drain, I was standing at the payphone and a cockroach crawled right over my foot, and the other guests at the hotel seemed to be homeless people from around the area....pretty rough characters to be honest. I didn't feel comfortable at all so I left really early in the morning. As I was checking out, the man working the front desk was loudly complaining about a guest that he had an argument with and being pretty inappropriate and rude about it. overall, horrible stay. I'm not very picky when it comes to where I stay when travelling, but this place was just that bad.
