“Fantastic place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

We stayed 7 nights in an apartment owned by Lili on the 12th floor. It was perfect for a couple. It has absolutely everything you would need and is ridiculously close to all amenities - including a quality supermarket right across the street. We walked everywhere and the apartments are perfectly located to get around Vancouver. The furnishings are high quality and the apartment is cosy and quiet. It is excellent value for money and there are no hidden costs. We would highly recommend it to any couples traveling to Vancouver.

Q Tips in the bathroom pretty well says it all, when you are talking about how well equipped this one bedroom suite is! Amazing. The 11th floor, mostly glass condo with views all around, completely and absolutely furnished up to the q-tips and DVDs and anything you could imagine. The location is near enough to Robson to walk to (two or three blocks) and there is a supermarket across the street, one block down, to stock up on basics for the fridge. The savings in morning coffee alone make the rental a bargain! Plus the fact that you don't have to get dressed to get your coffee nor tip toe around a sleeping spouse - all things you are faced with in a hotel room. Highly recommended!!

We visited Vancouver to see our son.
We stayed at the Electra Suites for 10 days.
Our apartment had one bedroom but our son was able to stay with us on the sofa bed.
The apartment was perfect with lots of extras.
There is a laundrette on each floor and a supermarket close by.
Also a lovely French cafe next door.
We visited lots of lovely restaurants; El Porto in Gastown and would thotoughly recommend The Keg for steak lovers.
The walk around Stanley Park on our first day was lovely and ending up at the Boat House on English Bay was icing on the cake.
Vancouver is a lovely city.

We first stayed at this vacation rental in July 2004 and have returned every summer since then. At that time, the owner had one apartment in the building on the 11th floor. There are now 4 apartments in this building available for rental. You can see many photos and the details of the amenities at (---)
The apartment lives up to the claims on the website and then some. The owners, Francois and Eoin, are most accommodating. Because I am a tea drinker and wanted to make more than a cup at a time, I bought an inexpensive teapot for the unit. (Francois was out of town at the time and I didn't want to wait for his return.) Last year, when we were placed in a newer unit, there was a teapot ready and waiting for us. Every year, there seem to be more of the little things to make one's stay more pleasant, e.g. laundry detergent for the free washers on each floor, umbrellas for those frequent rainy days, a kitchen stocked with basic seasonings, etc. Many places in Vancouver offer high speed internet access, IF you bring your own laptop. These rentals provide computers and printers. And don't worry about paying an extra fee to watch a movie. A good selection of classic and current videos are available in each unit. The furnishings, mostly from IKEA, are functional and comfortable. The Electra building has a guest lounge, library and outdoor grill on the ground floor, not to mention very fast elevators.
The location could not be more central in downtown Vancouver, situated across Nelson St from the Wall Centre. Any place that can't be walked to in 20 minutes is a short bus or taxi ride away. We have never needed to rent a car to go to any tourist destination within the city. A nearby summer bonus is the Saturday morning farmers' market in Nelson Park, 2 blocks away. For other items, there is a convenient grocers across Burrard and a block north. Of course, if you want a vacation from cooking, restaurants and cafes abound.
If there is any drawback to the apartments, it is the building's proximity to a very busy fire station 3 blocks away. All the windows are double-paned, but light sleepers might still be bothered by the frequent sirens.
There are much better pictures at the apartment website, but I included these to show the changing Vancouver vista. There is a major construction frenzy in the city, and residential units that had great views a couple of years ago will find them gone. It was rather fun to watch the early construction in 2004, the painting and interior work in 2005 and the residents on the rooftops in 2006. The second photo was taken after Italy's World Cup victory in 2006. That enormous Italian flag was still flying when we left at the end of July.
In summary, short of owning a home in Vancouver, I cannot think of any place I would rather stay than one of the Electra Suites.
