“Authentic and Upscale”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

My friend and I were the only people in the restaurant who were not Asian. The big lazy-susaned tables were packed with noisy families, eating unfamiliar dishes. The proprietors had to set up a table for us that seated two.

The menu listed unusual items such as bird's nest soup and shark fin soup. We ordered a shrimp dish and the waiter suggested we couple it with tofu with mushrooms and oyster sauce. The tofu dish was a hit. The food was outstanding but pricy. Dinner for two came to around $90. Still, I'd return just to have that tofu dish again. Best Chinese food I've ever eaten, and the service and atmosphere was electric.

“One of the best authentic Chinese Restaurant in Vancouver”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Very authentic Chinese food made better by the Chef who pays attention to innovative "fusion" in taste, ingredients, presentation and use of locally and seasonably available seafood, meats and vegetables. Service was great with a good waiter/waitress to table ratio. Sometimes new menu items are not in the printed one. Ask the captain what new things are cooked up by the main Chef, who does have days off (when there is actually a difference in the taste). Some items not on the regular menu may have to be pre-ordered.

“Good dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

The service was excellent though the hovering over us got to be a bit much. The cold appetizer platter was delicious. The duck with mushrooms dish was amazing, as was the lobster. Just two dishes i wasn't crazy about: I didn't like the stir fry white fish with gailan - the fish tasted a bit off. The fish and tofu hotpot was so-so but the fish had too many little bones that we gave up eating it.

Overall, a decent Chinese restaurant in Vancouver, but much prefer Fishermans Terrace and Kirin in Richmond for the same level of dining and Koon Lock in Eastside Vancouver for less nice, but awesome food.

“Good dim sum to impress or just because”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

Living in Vancouver we are blessed with many places to go for dim sum. The challenge is to find good QUALITY food. There is no cart-service here but dishes are brought to your table fresh, hot and steamy. All items we ordered were delicious, especially the shrimp dumplings ("har gow", 4 pieces) which were tasty and dainty unlike the mammoth-sized, steroid-injected ones you so often see nowadays. Expect to pay about $5 per dish + tea charge. Better to make a reservation or arrive before 11:30 and be warned that it is very noisy; however, the decor and view over False Creek is a plus.

“Great Place for a Special Meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

This is the place to get great Chinese food where the presentation and quality gets top awards. I have met the head chef and his skill and dedication really show in the meals that are served. We are regular customers at the Dynasty for any special event and I rank this as my favorite place to eat in Vancouver.
