Stayed at the Hampton for 3 nights - Sept. 14-17 at the end of a 12 day western Canada trip. We were concerned about the location (being on the east side of Vancouver and not downtown) as we returned our rental car, but that was not a problem.
Very nice hotel, front desk personnel very helpful. I loved the rooms with the floor to ceiling windows making the room very bright during the day. They have fridge, coffee maker and microwave. It is hard to find accommodation in Vancouver that has smoking rooms, but the Hampton allocate the 4th floor for smokers. We were walking distance to the boat to Granville Island, a casino, a few blocks from Yaletown and a little further to the Tower in Downtown. We planned on taking the Hop on Hop Off Bus, but had covered all we wanted to see except Stanley Park, so decided to just take a taxi as it was a cloudy day. One way fare was around $10.00 - cheaper than paying $33.00 pp for the bus.
Plenty of restaurants in the Yaletown district, but can be confusing, even when reading the menus posted outside. We ate across the road from the Hampton - at Players Chophouse -the last night and it was excellent! Service and food were excellent. They were very busy at first, serving the guests going to the Keith Urban concert, but once they cleared out, we were given their undivided attention.
We enjoyed not being right downtown in "the thick of things" and found this hotel to be excellent. Take advantage of their hot continental breakfast! Be sure to visit the top floor with the whirlpool and gym, if only to take pictures of the surrounding area.
