We stayed at the Barclay House in early June while attending a conference in Vancouver. We were in the Forest Room - which is actually two rooms. A lovely large bedroom with King size bed, and a smaller "sitting" room with small chaise and table. I spent much of my time in the small sitting room, gettting work done while not at the conference.
The entire house is lovely with wonderful sitting areas. The back yard has a small enclosed garden with seating, and there is more seating on the front porch. Since it was quite hot during our visit, I took advantage of both areas.
The breakfasts were wonderful - especially when served by Dennis who is great fun and an exceptional host.
The only negative to the visit is that it was VERY hot - probably as hot as is it ever gets in Vancouver, and there was no air conditioning so we had to leave the windows open. There was nice cool breeze through the sitting room in the back of the house - but with the breeze came alot of street/alley noise all night long. At least one drunken fight, another fight by tennants in the building next door. But the Barclay house provided us with earplugs so we were able to mostly ignore the noise. Also, I'm sure the hot weather was extremely rare, and normally you could have your windows closed.
THanks so much to Dennis and all the staff of Barclay House. We're from Seattle and will definitely be back soon for another visit.

My wife and I arrived in Vancouver for the very first time. We arrived early to the hotel. The staff immediately provided us very useful information regarding Vancouver and attractions. The breakfasts were extraordinary especially with that beautiful soft background music. Art, Dennis, and JJ (Staff) made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Location is outstanding since it is walking distance to downtown activities, restaurants, attractions. We did not need a taxi at all during our stay in vancover. We had great breakfasts, great accomodations, great location, and a very wonderful staff. By the way, that bottle of champagne in our room at our arrival was a very fine gesture. If in Vancouver, you definitely must go to Barclays Bed and Breakfast. This is certainly a gem.

Our stay at the Barclay house was one of the best experiences we've ever had at a hotel or bed and breakfast. The people at the house were extremely friendly, courteous, and provided us with lots of options for visiting Vancouver. The food was excellent and the location was great. It is within walking distance of downtown. When going back to Vancouver we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

We were instantly impressed when we arrived at Barclay House. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The room was beautiful and clean. The breakfasts were excellent! They were willing to adjust it to fit my dietary needs. We hadn't planned our entire trip itinerary and Dennis was very helpful in suggesting things we could do while we had breakfast. We never once regretted anything we did in Vancouver. We especially didn't regret staying at Barclay House. We would have reviewed sooner but our next stop accommodations didn't have internet access. Barclay House did. ;)

My wife and I had a great time in Vancouver, thanks in part to the great accommodations. The concierge Dennis was very helpful with tips on Vancouver sights to see and was a fun host at the B and B. Arty cooked up a couple of great breakfasts for us and we enjoyed his company as well. Friendly and professional service - and really nice guys too. The Barclay is a beautiful victorian house set in the neat West End neighborhood - within walking distance of many things to see - Stanley Park, Granville Island, Robson street, etc. We stayed in the Forest Room which was very nice and had a king sized bed and a small sitting room. I'd definitely stay there again on a trip back to Vancouver.
