We stayed at the Barclay House in early June while attending a conference in Vancouver. We were in the Forest Room - which is actually two rooms. A lovely large bedroom with King size bed, and a smaller "sitting" room with small chaise and table. I spent much of my time in the small sitting room, gettting work done while not at the conference.
The entire house is lovely with wonderful sitting areas. The back yard has a small enclosed garden with seating, and there is more seating on the front porch. Since it was quite hot during our visit, I took advantage of both areas.
The breakfasts were wonderful - especially when served by Dennis who is great fun and an exceptional host.
The only negative to the visit is that it was VERY hot - probably as hot as is it ever gets in Vancouver, and there was no air conditioning so we had to leave the windows open. There was nice cool breeze through the sitting room in the back of the house - but with the breeze came alot of street/alley noise all night long. At least one drunken fight, another fight by tennants in the building next door. But the Barclay house provided us with earplugs so we were able to mostly ignore the noise. Also, I'm sure the hot weather was extremely rare, and normally you could have your windows closed.
THanks so much to Dennis and all the staff of Barclay House. We're from Seattle and will definitely be back soon for another visit.
