My husband and I stayed at the Barclay House for 2 nights. We had very heavy luggage and were greeted by Dennis and Art, who were happy to bring our luggage to our room. The Beach room was very roomy and clean, with a comfortable bed, flat screen TV with DVD player and plenty of DVD's to borrow to relax in the evening. There was champagne, cookies on the bed, snacks in the fridge, and wonderful soaps and lotions in the bathroom. The towels were very soft, sheets very soft, and the room was sunny and bright (but dark at night). Dennis was full of suggestions of where to go and places to see and was a wonderful person to talk with. Art was the quiet one, but always smiling and cooked the most wonderful breakfast we have had at a B&B. The eggs benedict was to die for! The internet downstairs was a comfortable spot to check e-mails. It always felt like there was hardly anyone staying there and we felt like it was our home for two days. We walked everywhere, and I mean everywhere. We loved Joey's on Burrard (off of Robson), where Jesse served us in the bar area (that is the best place to people watch). We walked to Granville aquabus stop, walked to Stanley Park (biked around it), walked to Gastown and Canada Place. The location is perfect. Robson Street is full of life all day long and quite a people watching place. We never met JJ the owner because he was on holiday, but having people like Art and Dennis to "hold down the fort" while he was away is a good choice. Thanks again for our wonderful stay and we will see you next time we are in Vancouver.
