My wife and I had a great time in Vancouver, thanks in part to the great accommodations. The concierge Dennis was very helpful with tips on Vancouver sights to see and was a fun host at the B and B. Arty cooked up a couple of great breakfasts for us and we enjoyed his company as well. Friendly and professional service - and really nice guys too. The Barclay is a beautiful victorian house set in the neat West End neighborhood - within walking distance of many things to see - Stanley Park, Granville Island, Robson street, etc. We stayed in the Forest Room which was very nice and had a king sized bed and a small sitting room. I'd definitely stay there again on a trip back to Vancouver.

My husband and I stayed at the Barclay House for 2 nights. We had very heavy luggage and were greeted by Dennis and Art, who were happy to bring our luggage to our room. The Beach room was very roomy and clean, with a comfortable bed, flat screen TV with DVD player and plenty of DVD's to borrow to relax in the evening. There was champagne, cookies on the bed, snacks in the fridge, and wonderful soaps and lotions in the bathroom. The towels were very soft, sheets very soft, and the room was sunny and bright (but dark at night). Dennis was full of suggestions of where to go and places to see and was a wonderful person to talk with. Art was the quiet one, but always smiling and cooked the most wonderful breakfast we have had at a B&B. The eggs benedict was to die for! The internet downstairs was a comfortable spot to check e-mails. It always felt like there was hardly anyone staying there and we felt like it was our home for two days. We walked everywhere, and I mean everywhere. We loved Joey's on Burrard (off of Robson), where Jesse served us in the bar area (that is the best place to people watch). We walked to Granville aquabus stop, walked to Stanley Park (biked around it), walked to Gastown and Canada Place. The location is perfect. Robson Street is full of life all day long and quite a people watching place. We never met JJ the owner because he was on holiday, but having people like Art and Dennis to "hold down the fort" while he was away is a good choice. Thanks again for our wonderful stay and we will see you next time we are in Vancouver.

I stumbled upon Barclay House when a hotel nearby holding a convention was full. Now, if I attend the convention again next year, I will most certainly stay at Barclay House. It was a delightful place, and all the rooms lovingly furnished. The breakfasts were excellent, and I will remember John asking in the evenings if I would like a glass of (complimentary) champagne.

John, Art and Dennis were very attentive, and great to chat with about the house and the areas around the house.

Definitely a recommended spot!
