“Fabulous little hotel in great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2011

We live on the North Shore and decided to have a down town holiday. Granville Island Hotel was brilliantly located in the middle of False Creek activity. Hotel was friendly, staff helpful, room lovely, bathroom really lovely, restaurant and bar great food and drink and service.
Took the little aquabus across to Yaletown and rode bikes along sea wall. Took Aquabus back via Science World, live theatre on Granville island, great exploring all over the island - shops, food market, craftspeople and artists. Great fun for us and would be good for a family. And they takes dogs.
Simply a lovely time for us and the sun shone!!

It is the only hotel on the island however it is so convenient as a base to tour the island, eat & play! Beautiful views from every room, friendly staff and nice restaurant. I felt the room quality of furnishings could be updated and sized more appropriately for the room size. The beds were extremely comfortable and plush! I loved the bath products given for our use/convenience.

If you've never been to Granville Island in Vancouver, you should definitely stay at the Granville Island Hotel. Normally, you can only park for 3 hours on the island, which isn't nearly enough time to wander around and see everything, but the hotel offers free parking. The Hotel is easy to get to from the Airport, Check-in was smooth, and the staff was very helpful. Every day we would get up and walk the short walk to the "Public Market" and have our breakfast or lunch. It was delightful!
The Dockside restaurant is also lovely. We ate there the night before the wedding, and were not disappointed. Great food and great service.
My only complaint is that our small room was over top of where shipments came in, and so it was often loud with trucks backing up, and people making noise. Also, in this room there was no view, which for a prairie girl was a bit disappointing.
All in all, though, a very lovely stay.

I come here for a few days every two or three months to visit family who live in Kits.

The hotel is very relaxing and the staff most welcoming which always adds to the pleasure of visiting Vancouver.

We stayed here on many occasions and always want to come back. Because of airline schedules we always arrive at YVR about 10am. If booked room is not yet ready on arrival friendly staff arranges for replacement.
We happen to stay in the same room several times. Last time (this april) bathroom was completely renovated with nice shower stall (our preference) in stead of tub.
Globe and Mail in front of your door in the morning.
Great locations: take cab from YVR and rest (Grandville, downtown, Broadway) is walkable: good for us and good for the environment! (We are 65+).
No sirens in the middle of the night!!
Nice bright breakfast facilities.
Not much to not like.

Stayed at the Granville Island Hotel for a couple of nights.

Pros...
Location, location, location
Clean rooms
New updated bathrooms
Free WIFI in rooms
Good front desk staff

Cons...
Overpriced breakfast - didn't eat other meals here so couldn't comment
Quirky lounge that has no real character
Rooms are small

When on Granville Island check out the Sandbar Restaurant. The upper level overlooks the water and is literally underneath Granville Street Bridge - really cool!!!
If you're a runner take the seawall route toward Kits Beach - great trail for running!
