One adult visiting family. I stayed at the Oceanside for 3 nights. Truly a hidden gem. I have lived in smaller one bedroom apartments, I could not believe all the room I had. Separate bedroom then a hallway to the living and dining area, full kitchen. Bathroom good size.
The hotel lobby, stairs, room were always spotless. They really take care of this place. No bed bugs which I hear is a problem in some other hotels.
I was not driving so I can’t comment on the parking.
The wifi was decent, always worked for my smart phone and work PC.
TV worked without issue and never had problems with anything else in the room.
For a downtown location I was surprised how quiet it is at night.
Although I didn’t have a chance to use the kitchen much I can see how great it would be for families or couples not wanting to eat out for every meal.
There are at least 3 large grocery stores within walking distance (a few blocks).
The hotel is a block away from English Bay (and the ferry to Granville island) and a short bus ride from shopping on Robson and Gastown.
A short walk down Denman to Coal harbor
And of course right beside Stanley park with the beaches and bike rentals.
One negative was the locks on the door. They could use either a deadbolt that locks from the outside for when you’re gone for the day. Nothing was ever taken from my room and the hotel staff were always at the front door and when they weren’t they lock the front and back doors, it would just be nice to have a better lock then just the door handle one.
