“The Best Side!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2012

Fantastic! I've lived on this side for 25 years, no reason to move. It's very convenient to get around ie: I walk downtown, to 4th Ave for shopping, to Kits Beach, to West Broadway.... CONVENIENT :)

“West Side is not West End”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2009

The West Side is not the West End.
The West End is downtown mixed residential houses and towers and businesses bordered by Sunset Beach, English Bay, Stanley Park, Georgia Street and Thurlow Street.
The West Side is much larger and stretches west of Cambie Street to the University Endowment Lands and between the Fraser River and False Creek/English Bay. It is an affluent, mainly residential neighbourhood with single family housing averaging around 7 figures. There are seven distinct shopping and restaurant areas: 1. South Granville which is really north of most of Granville Street and spreads from 16th Avenue north to the Granville Street Bridge. 2. Granville and Marine spreads south from about 65th Avenue to Marine Drive. 3. Cambie Street which includes Oakridge Shopping Centre at 41st Avenue and then from 16th Avenue north to the Cambie Street Bridge. 4. Kerrisdale is westward along 41st Avenue from Arbutus. 5. Broadway from Cambie to Alma Streets. 6. 10th Avenue from Alma to Blanca Street. 7. Kits or Kitsilano stretches from 12th Avenue to False Creek between Burrard and Alma Streets and includes some of Broadway.
In the West Side, but without restaurants and shops: Southlands is a riverside residential and equestrian area south of Marine Drive. Miles of sandy beaches spread west from Alama. The Endowment Lands or Pacific Spirit Park is a thousand acres of horse and walking trails just outside of the west side. The University of BC is west of the West Side.
