The stuffy, overpressurized air in the old air-supported dome is gone. The brand new, state-of-the-art retractable roof is finished. Instead of the dark steel roof at the Rogers Centre (SkyDome) or Safeco Field, this roof is bright and airy. The central, retractable portion takes about 15 minutes to open, and the rest lets in plenty of natural light. The seats are wider than before, which makes the experience much more comfortable. The new video screens are HD, monstrous, and crystal clear. The audio is much improved, with new speakers and sound dampening to reduce reverberation. The new turf is FIFA 2-star rated and approved for international matches. There's no question that this is now the premier stadium in Canada, and one of the top facilities in North America.
The only quibble is with the horrible quality of food/beverage services for the first game, due to staff shortages and lack of training. I don't believe that this will be a long-term issue, just an opening day glitch (I hope).
