“Great Location, Enjoyable Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

We, my two young boys and husband stayed here for 3 nights and loved the central location. It's a 5-10 min walk to Stanley Park along Robson Street which is full of great food places, also 5-10 mins to English Bay Beach and has easy access to many of the other areas like Coal Harbour and Gastown. We think the rooms are a little on the old side but clean and comfy. Lots of space in the x2 double bed rooms for all of us. The gym is not very good but could easily be made better. We would stay here again but I probably would also check out around for price comparisons.

It was our first time visiting Vancouver and a friend recommended this hotel to us, saying it was an affordable, decent but outdated hotel with a central location and after staying here, we totally agree. We were fortunate to be placed on the 39th floor in a deluxe double room (non-smoking) with two double beds, a mini fridge, a wet sink, and a flat screen television. We were treated to an absolutely stunning million dollar view of the city, English Bay and the mountains. We found our stay extremely comfortable in this spacious room with clean sheets and soft pillows to sleep after long hours of hiking, walking, biking and sightseeing. Although the washroom was dated, we always had clean, soft fluffy towels, and warm/hot water for our showers.

This hotel is located right on Robson Street, which is a major busy street filled with shops, ethnic restaurants, coffee shops, sports bars, and grocery stores. We never had to worry where to go and find food to eat or pack food for our picnics, or go for drinks since everything is literally a few steps away. For health nuts, there is a Whole Foods Market a few minutes away where you can have your fill of healthy food. If you would like a more affordable grocery store, there is Safeway, a Western Canadian supermarket chain, further down from Whole Foods. There is also a very nice little local produce store, right across from Whole Foods, that sells fresh fruits and vegetables, mostly locally grown.

For shoppers, there are a variety of shops from big names to little boutiques, and even a few souvenir shops in between. For bikers, there is a bike shop ("Bikes on Robson") across from the hotel (a few minutes walk) that you can rent bikes for half a day or whole day and go biking around the city. Stanley Park is very near the hotel and bike shop, so you can easily spent a day biking around there. If you want to take the city's transit system ("SkyTrain"), it is just a 15 minute walk to the closest station.

An efficient feature of the hotel is its express check out, which we found very convenient. Instead of checking out the last day and to avoid lineups in the morning, we checked out the night before easily and quickly. I highly recommend guests to use this express check out!

Last but not least, I would like to mention that the staff at front desk are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Every little question we had, they had the answers right away and even tips on how to get to certain places or what is of interest to tourists! :)

Room Tip: Request for a higher floor room facing the English Bay. Watching the view and especially during suns...

Very old hotel in the center of Vancouver Downtown. Convenience location. Walking distance from everything. However very old hotel and very old and small rooms. Airconditioner was broken but service came and fixed it quick.

Room Tip: If you want a cheap place to stay in the center of everything, this is the place. Nothing fancy abo...

We stayed here to renew my passport in Vancouver. It was okay, i was not expecting too much. I can hear noise in my room from the other room. But the location is great, it's very near the shopping area of Vancouver which is the robson st and about 15-20 mins walk to Canada place.

On my latest visit to vancouver of which I've been to many times to see lots of shows so we've stayed in lots of different hotels in the city this one however was the most dated I was quite taken back when I entered our room it really was disappointing everything looked and appeared dirty and the ceiling Walsall flaking probably caused by a leaking toilet upstairs I certainly wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone I know I thought we paid a lot of money at160 bucks a night all I expect when I check into a hotel is for the room to be of a certain standard and this didn't come close never again landmark empire

Stayed here for 3 nights in 2nd week of June. The rooms are nice and decent and the view from the higher floors is breath-taking. The location of the hotel is also very good.

However the restaurant, Cloud 9 at the top floor has some very rude staff. They just didn't understand that they were in the hospitality industry and that kind of attitude just can't be tolerated. We asked for some water and the staff rudely pointed out to a table and said it's there....

Would I stay here again? I guess not. At the price that they are charging, I do believe there are other options in Vancouver.

Room Tip: If you have to stay here, for sure take the rooms on the higher floors. They are worth it.

My wife and I have just returned from a 6 day trip to Vancouver and we stayed at this hotel, which is very conveniently situated on Robson Street in the West End of the city. We were lucky enough to get a room on the 25th floor facing out NW overlooking the inlet, Stanley Park, English Bay and out of the other windows, North Vancouver, Canada Place and the marina.

The room was clean and had a fridge and coffee maker, which were very useful. The bathroom could use a little updating, but the shower was powerful with plenty of hot water and the towels soft and fluffy.

Two things that would need to be looked at in our room (2504) is the air-conditioner, which appeared not to work, and was pumping out hot air no matter what temperature the thermostat was set to. It wasn't too hot when we were there, but in the upcoming summer months it will need to be fixed. The other issue that we thought might need to be looked at is the beds - my wife and I both found them to be a little too firm but we walked so much during our stay, we fell into them at the end of the day regardless.
