Stayed a total of 3 nights. Room was large, clean and had all usual facilities and a kitchenette as well as good views. Staff were helpful. Only downside was the lack of ice making machines on floors - quite unusual in Canada in our experience. It's a bit if a drag having to take a lift to the first floor for ice when you're on the 22nd! Apart from that, very good.

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights at the Century Plaza. It was a decent place to stay for the price, which we found a great deal on Hotels.ca that the hotel beat by an additional 5%. The room wasn't as modern as the lobby looked, but was large and clean. We were there over the long weekend and it wasn't noisy other than the sirens at the hospital. Nice hotel for the price. Parking was additional $17 per day to park in the hotel parking area, which actually isn't bad for downtown Vancouver.

Dislikes:
- right near St. Paul's Hospital so you hear sirens at all hours of the night
- no a/c in the bedroom only in the living room area
- tiny bathroom (have to pretty much climb over the toilet to get to the tub when the door is open)

Likes:
- our room was a large corner room with lots of windows
- kitchenette suite (fridge, stove, microwave, toaster)
- great location other than the hospital next door
- great staff service

I was in Vancouver for a Convention in the second week of June for 6 days and the Century Plaza Hotel and Spa couldn't have been a better choice. Right in the heart of Downtown, reasonable room rates, I was in a Suite on the 21st Floor great view, very spacious, neat and clean rooms, big double beds along with a sofa, a kitchenette, a coffee table and a large LCD TV. The only downside is that this hotel is right next to a hospital and you will definitely be woken up in the middle of the night, every night at least once by an ambulance siren. Also this hotel offers free wi-fi internet only in the lobby. Otherwise there is a charge of 9$ for 24 hours. I checked with all other hotels in the area and almost every hotel has free internet in the room.

My boyfriend and I planned a very last minute trip to Vancouver for his 25th birthday. We are young and budget conscious, but I am definitely kind of a princess when it comes to lodgings and I don't like swapping comfort for savings. We found a really good deal on rooms at this hotel (considering how late we started looking) and after reading a few unfavorable reviews online, I was a little skeptical whether we made the right choice when booking with them. I couldn't have been more wrong! The minute we pulled up and walked inside I was relieved and excited about our choice. We arrived at almost midnight after traveling all day, and the staff was so refreshingly friendly and helpful when checking us in (I later learned that this is quite the Canadian way!) The gentleman at the front desk was so kind as to direct us to a few places to get some cheap late night eats, even though the hotel has its own restaurant and room service options. It was when we walked outside to find a slice of pizza that I began to appreciate what a great location the hotel is in. Bordered by the colorful west end and some of the most upscale shopping areas of Vancouver, the city streets were definitely alive but as we walked around our first night and I never felt unsafe or threatened. Vancouver has a somewhat aggressive homeless population, but we were never bothered when we were spending any time near the hotel. Vancouver is a very walkable city, and from our hotel we could walk to see all of the city's greatest sights: Stanley Park, Granville Island, Yaletown. There was also a large selection of restaurants and shopping just within a few blocks so we never had to walk far if we didn't want to! I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay for those who have never been to Vancouver before and aren't sure what to expect. Definitely a safe bet.

I really liked this hotel. We booked a studio suite because it was the lowest priced room available, and we got a lot of room for our money! The staff were really helpful - thanks to the bell captain's advice (I think that's what they called him - the guy on the information desk!) we were able to complete our onward journey without the expense of getting a taxi to the ferry port or the hassle of lugging bags all over the place. We also ate in the restaurant where the food was good but the service average (we saw two waiting staff and one was significantly better than the other).

This is an addition to my previous reviews about the bedbugs. I spoke to the management about the problem and they rectified it. Not only refunding my trip but ensuring that they would call an exterminator to clear the room of any infestations for the next traveler. The woman I dealt with promptly answered emails and inquiries pertaining to the matter. At first I was disappointed in the hotel but the fact that they handled everything so well brought my opinion back up. Bedbugs are usually brought in by another traveler so now that the Century Plaza has taken the appropriate measures to clean the room hopefully it will never be an issue again.
