Let's set the record straight immediately. There is nothing luxurious or "boutique" about this hotel.
I believe they purchased their title.
The positives are proximity to BC Place, Gastown, Robson street shopping, free in-house basic Gym, free internet. Clean basic rooms, comfortable bed.
Beyond that I won't bother you with everything that happened during my ten day business stay save for these few facts:
I had to change rooms 4 times due to noise.
Upon check-in I requested a quiet room and was placed directly in front of the elevators.
When I requested to be moved I was then given a room overlooking a major construction site!?
My next room had a communicating door but this establishment never had the presence of doubling them on either side. So following a party that felt as if it was in my room I moved again.
If you check in make sure NOT to get a room with a communicating door!
The heating system in the room is noisy.
In fact they seem to be on to the noise here but are unwilling to do something about it as the first thing you see upon arrival in your room are earplugs prominently placed on the night stand...
The water pressure in the bathrooms is subpar and it takes quite a long time to get hot water.
Be warned! If you forget your "Do Not Disturb" Card the maid service might start knocking at your door at 7h30 AM!?
TV reception is terrible. Most remote controls are slow and sluggish.
The hallways are frigid in winter causing cold damp air to be sucked into the rooms. When I mentioned this to the clerk at the front desk he explained without apology that they had air purifier ducts on the roof and that's how it was. The fire exit and elevator doors are filthy.
Frankie's restaurant in the lobby is expensive for low quality standard fare.
I want to salute here the work of Mr. Fukushima the Front Office Manager and a few of his colleagues for sincerely trying to right the wrongs but the truth is the rest of the hotel just does not cut it.
In short don't believe the hype or the marketing on the website.
This place is clean and convenient for a night or two only but it is as generic as any Marriott and no where near what it is pretending to be.
