Stayed overnight at the Marriott PInnacle in Vancouver after an Alaskan cruise. It was very quick and easy to walk to the hotel from the cruise terminal, which avoided us having to wait in a long line for a bus or taxi. The hotel's location is great - very close to everything you'd want to see in Vancouver: Stanley Park, the harbor, Gastown, etc. We walked everywhere, although the hop-on-hop-off trolley is wonderful and easy to use as well. The hotel was spotless, the bellhop greeted us immediately and our bags were whisked off straight away. Even though we arrived at 11 am, our room was ready and waiting for us, which was a real treat as we'd expected to have to wait until the afternoon for a room. The room seemed to have been recently refurbished, everything was new and in great condition. We had a glimpse of the harbor from the room, and although it was only on the eighth floor, it was quiet with little or no road noise. It may be noisier on a weeknight, as the surrounding offices and businesses were all closed for the weekend. The bathroom was huge, with a tub and separate shower - a bonus for a family of four sharing a room. The beds were very comfortable. The only drawback was the very noisy air conditioning, which cut on and off with a sound like thunder, waking us up every time. My daughter used the gym, which she said was very good. We left the room at 4 am for our flight, and a taxi was ready and waiting for us as soon as we got out of the elevator. (By the way, if you haven't come across this before - you have to use your room key to operate the elevator. We would probably still be stuck in the elevator if another guest hadn't showed us what to do ...) The Marriott is a generic hotel of its kind, catering to the business traveller, but it met our expectations and needs very well.

The first plus about this hotel is its location. It is so close to everything so there is no need to rent a car.

We arrived around 10.30am and there was no room available but they hoped to have something at 11.30. They took our luggage and we went for a short walk. At 11.30 it still wasn't ready but they did have a room on the concierge level which was $60 a night extra. It included free internet and free breakfast so decided to go for that.

The room itself was of standard size but the bathroom was huge. The major disappointment was the shower. Its a good size but the water pressure was awful. It felt like light rain rather than a shower. The only other minor issue is the tv was not good quality - towards the edges the picture got distorted. The bed was extremely comfortable and turndown service was a nice extra. The internet was a good speed.

The breakfast was good. There was a limited amount of hot food but the fruit was fresh and the pastries were fantastic.

We ate twice in the restaurant and found it great both times. The food was fantastic and staff very friendly.

Overall our stay was very good.

Just what you would expect of a Marriott. Beautifully furnished rooms, superbly comfortable beds. Friendly helpful staff. Convenient to downtown Vancouver and the old Gas Town area of shops and restaurants. What more can be said. Good value for high quality. Take a trip on the city tour tram and up to Grouse Mountain. A day trip to Whistler is a must by the Rocky Mountaineer - but return by road or even better Sea Plane!

The Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle is pricey but given its location that isn't surprising. It is moments away from the waterfront and not far from the famous Gas Town. We had a 'View' type double room on the 29th floor which, as the name suggests, looked out over Vancouver harbour and across to North Vancouver. Couldn't really ask for more! Excellent location, service and facilities.

We did notice some major construction work across the road infront of the hotel. It is possible that once finished, the new building may block some of the view.

Although a fairly typical bog-standard North American business/leisure 5-star hotel, the Pinnacle did tick all the boxes and it does have a good location. Our view was all right, if not spectacular, parking was easy, the breakfasts were excellent, and the rooms large. We were able to easily walk to anywhere in the West End and to Stanley Park. I don't remember hearing any noise from the hallway or other rooms.
We had once stayed at the Fairmont at the waterfront and, over-all, I think that was a better hotel, but the Pinnacle's location would make me choose it the next time.
