“fabulous accomodation & position”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2010

These self contained apartments are great. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was separate from the living room which is perfect if one of you wants to go to bed before the other. They had a separate kitchen with big fridge, stove, microwave & dishwasher. The tea bags, coffee & bathroom products were top quality. The rooms were serviced every day.

There is a coin operating laundromat in the building which is very handy. They have doorman so you feel very secure.

The position is brilliant. Right in the heart of the city. There is a huge supermarket opposite the hotel.

Our travel agent switched us to this Hotel just before we travelled to Vancouver and we were not disappointed great viewsday and night over the city. The Hotel is close to the City Centre Station on the Canada Line and upon arrival in the city we were helped by a friendly local to locate Albeni Street. Our Suite had everything you would need for a comfortable base in which to explore this beautiful city, and staff are on hand should you need help with local knowledge - they printed off information regarding spas for me and fishing for my partner. This Hotel is within easy walking distance to lovely restaurants and all the shops you could need. You can also walk to Stanley Park from the hotel where the Aquarium is worth a visit just to see the beluga whales. We played the 18 hole pitch and putt in the park and had fun dodging the racoons and squirrels. You can make your way to Grouse Mountain via the sea bus located near Canada Place and local buses stop off at Capilano bridge too on the way through. Highlight of our trip was seeing the Orcas just out of Stevenston (see the fish market here and great fish and chips too). Take a trip to Vancouver Island and visit the B.C. museum in Victoria perfect on a rainy day, we got free tickets from our tour guide when we went to Buchart gardens. We spoilt ourselves with a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer to Whistler and stayed overnight - beautiful scenery and adventure do the Zip wire experience while you're there. Cant fault this lovely city with everything to offer and a friendly welcome too. The Carmana Plaza was a perfect base for our stay in Vancouver.

A good value hotel, suites are comfortable and generously proportioned, and location is as convenient as you could ask. OK, fixtures and furnishings are functional rather than luxurious but this is a $200 a night hotel so it's unreasonable to expect $500 fittings. Other postings comment on the noise - this hotel is very central so there's going to be traffic noise, but we certainly didn't find it obtrusive or any worse than similarly-sited hotels. We would certainly stay there again. A mention to the wonderful food shop across the street!

We stayed here for 2 nights prior to a cruise. Location is excellent. Close to restaurants and shops. Opposite a large food store. All rooms are suites- so typically you have 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a small equipped kitchen, balcony and a large living space!
Staff were attentive and helpful.

The Carmana Plaza was a nice hotel to stay in. Our first room at the start of our holiday was very spacious and very clean - with a nicely fitted out kitchenette. Our only complaint was the soft bed - which made for a bad night's sleep. On our stay at the end of the holiday, we stayed on the 30th floor - which had magnificent views over downtown Vancouver. The rooms were both of a very good size.

The Room: We had a standard suite with a Modern Interior (room no 804). We really liked it: it is clean, light and everything you need is provided (great kitchen!). We could imagine that some travelers find it a little sterile, but Carmana also offers a more traditional suite. The big plus of the room are the “top-floor” windows and the view (see pictures). A little dissapointing is the fact that you have to pay almost $10 for one day internet...

Location: The hotel is located at Alberni st. (a very short walk from Robson st.). Parking your car in a parking lot will cost you an add. $15. There is no breakfast room or restaurant, but…. your in Vancouver: so go out and search for it! If not: there is a Supermarket across the street and a BC liquor store nearby. The downside of the location (in the middle of a city) is the noise early mornings (trucks unloading, trucks emptying garbage containers)

Staff: The staff is courteous and helpful.

Conclusion: When we go back to Vancouver, we’ll stay at Carmana again!

Very good location in central downtown Vancouver. This is a clean well run hotel. Although the checkin seemed somewhat impersonal. The underground parking lacked signage, so one could find their way back to the lobby and elevators.
The rooms were very spacious, and modern with full kitchen suite facilities. The parking was $15. per nite.
