Stayed here for the first time over the Remembrance Day Long weekend. I've stayed at Residence Inn by Marriott hotels before so I kinda new what to expect and I was very pleasantly surprised. Everything is new and clean.
We travelled with another family, consisting of 2 adults and 2 kids (like ours) and we requested connecting rooms, which we got. We stayed on the 8th floor and were very happy with our rooms. One had a king with a pullout and the connecting room had 2 queen beds. The rooms are not as spacious as some of the other Residence Inn's I've stayed in but again, the rooms are totally newly done and all of the components are there that you'd expect: the work desk, seating area and kitchen.
We used the pool but did not use the gym. That being said, the gym looked like a decent size and had good amount of space allocated to it. The pool was a decent size for a downtown hotel and the kids loved it. Off the pool area was an outside patio area with a gas fireplace that looked like it would be great in the summertime. Unfortunately, it was quite cool and raining when we stayed.
Breakfast was nice and the breakfast area has ample seating. I liked the food offerings but I thought the hours of operation were a bit short. Only until 9:30AM on weekends and even on the holiday Monday, they went back to the regular Mo-Fri hours of closing the breakfast at 9AM. I think holiday Mondays should carry the same hours as the Sat and Sun AND those should be open until 10AM for those travelling on holidays and not on business.
The place has a restaurant off the lobby but we didn't have a chance to try it. As for parking, we had drove through 2 gates to get to our parking on P2 so we felt quite safe leaving our car underground and did not experience any issues.
Staff are very friendly. Everyone from front desk, to breakfast and housekeepers and maintenance staff make eye contact and greet you as they pass which is nice. Daniel (Manager on Duty) at the front desk was wonderful and super helpful as well as professional.
Can't wait to come back. I think I found my new favourite place in Vancouver.
