“Couldn't be happier!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

I stayed in Victorian Hotel from the 2nd of September to the 11th and was Very happy.
It had a very nice interior, was very clean and very resonably priced.

Pros: Excellent location - Hop off the plane, onto the skytrain then a 5 minute walk from the station. Very close to Gastown without the noise. (Gastown features resturants, shops, bars etc a lovely area). 10 minute walk to Coal harbour, 20-30 minute walk to the aqaurium.

Cleanliness - The downstairs dining area was always clean. Bathroom, showers and my room was ALWAYS kept clean and tidy. You will never not have to ask about towels etc

Comfort - I know its a personal thing, but I was very comfortable with the bed and services

Cons: Stairs - The hotel does not have an elevator, not a problem for me but hey.

Comnunal facilities: Washroom and shower was communal to each floor.

Room Size: Not the biggest rooms I've been in, but resonable

All in all a very pleasant stay, and DEFINATELY would stay here again.

Room Tip: Some rooms are located very close to the washroom and shower, which might be helpful to avoid.

Walking into the hotel, my partner and I weren't sure what we were getting into. The lobby and stairs appeared to be unfinished or in the final stages of renovation, with exposed drywall in some places.

We booked the Victoria deluxe king room with private bath. When we walked into our room we were very pleasantly surprised. There were three big windows that let in lots of light, and had a mountain view. We could hear sounds from the street in the night, but it wasn't bothersome. That's what you get when you stay downtown! The windows could be opened or closed to let in a breeze or minimize noise from the street if need be. The room was spacious and nicely decorated in a modernized Victorian style. It appeared newly renovated, though it still had the character and charm we were hoping for. The bed and down filled pillows felt really luxurious, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was attractive, with marble and tile throughout. I was pleasantly surprised that the shampoo and conditioner dispensed in the bathroom was natural, locally made in BC and scented with essential oils. Overall the suite totally exceeded our expectations!

I only ate breakfast at the hotel once, and it was simple and good - definitely a step up from the continental breakfasts you would typically find at chain hotels. The fruit, yogurt, and granola I had were great, and the huge banana muffin was a meal in itself. All in all, the hotel's location was very convenient. The lobby and dining room could definitely use some fixing up, but our suite was beautiful and a joy to stay in. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Vancouver!

OK. It's a bargain. I'll give you that. Clean and pretty good location for walking to places. Nice people - mostly. Breakfast free..... 0 OJ which I've never heard of in my life! Rooms super cramped and no air-conditioning or source of air which would have enabled me to shut the windows to keep out the street noise. It's RIGHT ON the street. They're trying hard but need some upgrades. Vancouver is an expensive city so.... if you need to save a couple of dollars, it's fine. Plus, they gave me 0!! discount for staying in their place for a week. I don't think that's cool. I wouldn't go again. Private bath! UM... if you want to get up in the middle of the night and walk across the hall it is. OH.... room was very, very cramped with an antique TV and SLOW internet.

Room Tip: If you need a quiet night's sleep make absolutely sure to say so when you make the reservation!

Dear Julie K
Thank you for your writing your guest review. We are certainly happy to know you felt you got a bargain. We offer two distinct room types, luxury and economy and both are considered great values in the downtown hotel market.

We booked a king room with private bath, and although I started off irritated that they had me booked for a shared bath and the lobby was somewhat grimy, Jaden quickly rectified this and we had a great room.

Don't be put off by the lobby, it's no reflection of the suites. The lobby needs a good paint job, the dining room (visible from the lobby) is unpainted drywall. The staircase going up to our 2nd floor room is the same as the lobby. I'm assuming they are in the middle of renovations, although there were no signs indicating this. I was actually petrified by the state of the main floor... But this was no reflection of the suite itself.

This is definitely a true Victorian style hotel, with beauty I could finally see when I got to the second floor hallway. Gorgeous hardwood floors (likely original), leading to our room. Opening the door to our nicely spacious room, with wonderfully comfortable bed, beautiful fixtures, decent tv, and my favorite was the iPhone docking alarm clock. So convenient and great attention to detail. The room was very clean, with nice linens on the bed. Bathroom was beautiful with marble tile floor. Free wifi was great.

The downside, in my opinion... Although the breakfas is free, and I shouldn't complain, the chocolate croissants looked to die for, but turned out to be practically indelible as I could hardly chew it. The parking is tight. If you drive a small compact it's no issue, but anything mid-size and bigger it can sure be a tight fit. The parking is very secure though... Gated with razored wire all along the top.

We will definitely stay here again. It's a great central location and with the right rate, it's perfect!

Room Tip: Be sure to book with private bathroom unless you don't mind sharing.

The Hotel is in a great location near Gastown and its old town flair. We got a deluxe room and, although the view was on a shady parking lot, it was really nice and cozy. Thus, high score for the "bed" part of the B&B. Unfortunately the "breakfast" was not as good: the breakfast room was overfilled, bad coffee, and there was barely someone cleaning up the stuff on the table. Not a great experience. We had to go out and look for a brunch place in order to get a good pancake.

We stayed for four nights in late August 2012. We arrived by taxi from the Port - after taking the ferry from Victoria. The taxi ride was $95. Expensive.

We arrive at 11:00 AM and the room was ready. Clean, large and very nice. We had a deluxe King room on the second floor - facing the back. The bathroom was beautiful - very European - marble and the bathtub/shower was separate from the sink area. Nice feature.

The windows were big and provided fresh air - which we appreciated since there is no air conditioning. They did however place a fan in the room - but as it was very warm during the day, the room was at times a bit warm.

The bed was comfortable, the TV plasma, and the wood floors and antique touches made it seem very Victorian indeed.

The staff at the desk was helpful and kind. We rented bikes from the hotel to ride around Stanley Park and around the city one evening. This was a great help - no need to go to an outside vendor and return the bikes to a location away from our final destination.

The breakfast was excellent - fresh berries, yogurt, chocolate croissant and cold cereal was available each day. The coffee was a bit weak - but good.

All in all - the location is wonderful - one block from Gastown, two blocks from the water and lots of good restaurants near by.

I would definitely recommend this place and stay here again.

A friend recommended this place to me and I am only sorry that we could not stay longer. As the name suggests, a Victorian building and furnished accordingly. Very convenient location, clean and pleasant. The rates include breakfast and wifi - both becoming a rarity in other hotels. The staff member at the front desk helpful and pleasant. The rooms are not large and there is no fridge in the room - neither a problem for a short stay.
The previous week I stayed at a high rise hotel at the other end of town for about the same rate (no rooms available in The Victorian for that week) and it was far less pleasant. I would happily return if ever I am in Vancouver again.
