“EXCELLENT HOTEL”

Hyatt Regency Vancouver

I spent ages reviewing reviews on Trip Adviser before finally settling on the Hyatt, and I'm delighted to say it was the best choice. The staff were helpful and friendly and very efficient. We were coming off an Alaska cruise and found we were in a 3 hour queue for a taxi from the cruise terminal which is only a short distance from the hotel (but not walkable with 4 large cases). I phoned the hotel and was put through to a very friendly bellman/doorman Ray who kindly sent a cab for us (although this isnt a usual part of their service - we loved his 'can do' attitude to help us out).
The room was huge and we had asked for a preferred view room overlooking the city - we're glad we paid the bit extra for that. 27th floor, 2721 was the room number. Bathroom spotless and modern.
The coffee/tea service in the room was great.
We found all the bellmen very helpful.
The location meant we could walk to many places, or easily take a bus. We had a great day out at Grouse mountain - the weather was good that day but got a bit chilly for the last couple of days.
Robson St shopping was only a few blocks away, with great restaurants on offer. Granville Island was also worth the visit and it was interesting getting there - a Skytrain to Main St and an autobus to the island. The Skytrain station is connected with the Hyatt, in the shopping centre nextdoor so very handy. That shopping centre also has great foodcourt eating. We didnt really get time to eat at the hotel restaurant except for breakfast one morning, which was good. We also ordered room service on the last night as we had an early start and this was excellent and we felt good value. We thought the accommodation was also good value for the standard we got.
There is good security in the hotel too.
We would definitely stay at the Hyatt when visiting Vancouver in the future.
Vancouver is generally pricey but coming from Ireland, we're used to this.

“Loved the Regency Hyatt!”

We stayed at The Regency Hyatt for two nights as it was a convenient pick up point for a Key West Coach Tour visiting the Rockies. The hotel is very well located, the 18th floor room was superb, with very comfortable beds and modern decor.
A special note: You MUST eat at the hotel restaurant and try their 5 course tasting menu. This was superb food, beautifully presented and the waiter was brilliant. It was more of an experience than a meal and we would stay there again just for the food. The front of house staff were both charming and helpful and we highly recommend you to stay there.

Perhaps my opinion is biased because I received this hotel via Priceline; appreciated the good rate in this very expensive city. I've stayed at many Hyatts and this one ranks right up in the top ten--definitely a 4* hotel. Decor is new & very nice--business-like, modern, masculine & a touch of Asian. Personally not exactly my style, but I can appreciate it. Some beautiful glass work & pieces in the lobby. Service was 5* from check-in/out, bellmen, concierge, to restaurant. Hotel seemed very full with many tour groups, tourists & business people. The Hyatt staff seemed to handle them all quite well.

Location was great for us as we were using public transportation; skytrain was right out the door, as was the hop-on & off trolley. A $5 cab ride from Canada Place, $8 to the Amtrak station. Public bus also right outside the door. Room had a nice view of downtown and a sliver of the bay. As is usual with Hyatts, bellman was happy to store our luggage after checking out, as we didn't need to leave the city until 5 p.m.

Mosaic restaurant was good, albeit pricey, so we ate there only once for dinner. I normally use room service for breakfast and bite the bullet with the high prices. But this one was really a bit much just for coffee & a bakery item, so used the Coffee stand in the lobby to get it myself. $15 charge for 1 day of internet access seemed a bit over the top, however, it did not show up on the final bill; we'll see if it eventually shows up on my credit card. I'm guessing Hyatt's prices are no higher than any other comparable hotel in Vancouver.

We enjoyed our stay here very much, and I am surprised that anyone would have complaints about their stay.

My stay at the Hyatt coincided with a software conference I attended. The hotel is up the hill from the bay and it was a pleasant but sometimes chilly walk downhill to the conference location. There are lots of coffee shops, try Blenz if you get a chance. :)

There were homeless people in front of the hotel. I gave one young girl fruit every morning as I departed the hotel. They were pleasant. There is a Starbucks attached to the hotel on the ground floor. I used the hotel's workout facility and it was excellent.

The room was spacious. The king-size bed as good as it gets, everything was funky & upscale of what crate & barrel sells, it had that look and feel. The TV was a nice flatscreen, the room had a good bathroom, not too extravagant. The work desk was comfortable and funcitonal, I used the internet service a lot.

Room service was the best I've ever had at a hotel. I loved the soups and salads, especially the scallop & prawn. The concierge an reservation desk was efficient, friendly and helpful.

There was very little in the way of hall noise or evening disruptions. I slept well. The sun rises later in the morning in Vancouver in late Oct...around 8 AM.

I took a bus into the city from the airport, that was a mistake, but I wanted to get a feel for the local folks and had a delightful ride talking to two young women from Australia (sisters, one whom had just left home for the first time and was living in Vancouver...brave indeed.) I felt safe riding the bus. This is not something I would attempt in my own hometown (Central NJ.) I felt safe walking around at night.

You can hear the floatplanes taking off from the harbour. I like floatplanes, so it was not a problem for me. They are gearing up for the Olympics in 2010? So there's a lot of construction downtown.

I found nothing worthy of the slightest complaint...that is far too rare these days, but common when I travel in Canada, did I mention that I like Canada?
