I spent ages reviewing reviews on Trip Adviser before finally settling on the Hyatt, and I'm delighted to say it was the best choice. The staff were helpful and friendly and very efficient. We were coming off an Alaska cruise and found we were in a 3 hour queue for a taxi from the cruise terminal which is only a short distance from the hotel (but not walkable with 4 large cases). I phoned the hotel and was put through to a very friendly bellman/doorman Ray who kindly sent a cab for us (although this isnt a usual part of their service - we loved his 'can do' attitude to help us out).
The room was huge and we had asked for a preferred view room overlooking the city - we're glad we paid the bit extra for that. 27th floor, 2721 was the room number. Bathroom spotless and modern.
The coffee/tea service in the room was great.
We found all the bellmen very helpful.
The location meant we could walk to many places, or easily take a bus. We had a great day out at Grouse mountain - the weather was good that day but got a bit chilly for the last couple of days.
Robson St shopping was only a few blocks away, with great restaurants on offer. Granville Island was also worth the visit and it was interesting getting there - a Skytrain to Main St and an autobus to the island. The Skytrain station is connected with the Hyatt, in the shopping centre nextdoor so very handy. That shopping centre also has great foodcourt eating. We didnt really get time to eat at the hotel restaurant except for breakfast one morning, which was good. We also ordered room service on the last night as we had an early start and this was excellent and we felt good value. We thought the accommodation was also good value for the standard we got.
There is good security in the hotel too.
We would definitely stay at the Hyatt when visiting Vancouver in the future.
Vancouver is generally pricey but coming from Ireland, we're used to this.
