“Would Stay here again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2011

We stayed here the middle of September. I would echo all the recent reviews. We were on the 29th floor with a corner room, quiet, with great view. The reception was great and gave us maps, coupons and answered all our questions. Lots of restaurants on Robson St and Denman within walking distance. Good price for a downtown hotel and would stay here again.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for four nights while traveling to Vancouver for the first time. We specifically requested a higher floor room and were not disappointed. We had a great view of Stanley Park, the city, and the bay to watch beautiful sunsets. It's a great location next to lots of restaurants, and within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. We didn't have lots of luggage, so it was pretty easy walking from the subway station that services the airport directly. The room could have been a bit bigger, but we weren't there except to sleep and shower so overall it was just fine. We headed to Victoria after our stay and the Pacific Coach Line bus will pick you up from this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the upper floors facing Northwest. Regardless, everything is a corner room with a...

We were very happy with our room at The Blue Horizon. It's situated perfectly on a quieter stretch of Robson St, for those who want to explore the downtown west-end on foot. We walked to the symphony, to great restaurants, to shops on Robson, to movie theatres nearby, to excellent bakeries on Davie St. The room was very spacious, with two queen size beds even though we only used one. We spent $10 more per night to upgrade to one of the higher rooms with a view of English Bay. If the weather is nice, it's worth it. . .The staff were very competent and helpful. There is a lovely restaurant in the hotel for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We didn't eat there but it was always crowded, so we imagine the food must be good. Parking is very reasonable ($15./day) for unlimited in and out priviledges. If you're looking for a nice hotel without the added glitz of a doorman, fancy lobby, flowers, etc., you'll be pleasantly surprised at the size and decor of the rooms, and the view of course (there's a fridge too!).

Room Tip: Rooms above the 20th floor, ending in 06 or 07, for the best water views.

We stayed at the Blue Horizon Hotel in mid September and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were given a spacious, comfortable room on the 19th floor. It is located in a nice part of Robson St which is handy to most things.
The restaurant was reasonable with good food and friendly efficient staff.
We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher level.

Rooms are a little strangely laid out, but large. As you enter (our room at least), the bathroom was on the left, and there was a small entry way. Turning left, straight ahead was the closet. To the left was a desk with internet connection (free, but no wifi in the hotel) and then the bed. Windows on two sides and a small balcony. There was only one nightstand on the left side of the bed, and unless you put your suitcase on the chair, desk or in the entryway, you had little room to walk around.

The room & bathroom was very clean, and service was very good. They held our bags for most of the next day, and there is a direct line to order a cab. We did not try the restaurant/bar.

Room Tip: Most rooms will have a good view if you are high enough, since there are only 8 rooms per floor, app...

The service at reception was abrupt (the only time we experienced this in Canada) and was very crowded and small. The room was very good and spacious although only being on the 4th floor we had no view. Breakfast in the bistro was excellent value.
An average city hotel.
