“Beautiful View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

We had a really bad time trying to find this place. There aren't enough proper signs or directions to reach the correct side of the hotel to enter, and it is not easy if you drive. Tip:If you see the hotel to the left of your driver side window, you've gone too far and there is no turning back!! However, once we entered the disheveled looking exterior, the interiors were nice, the staff friendly and the room we got had once of the best views you could ask for.

We had a beautiful view of the skyline and the bay and Lions gate and we spent the late evening sitting on the patio taking in the view. Just for this, its worth going here and asking for the higher level rooms. The room as such was quite spacious, had good beds, and for a change, a coffee maker that was not in the toilet (thank you!). You could clearly tell that the interiors were a bit dated, but we still felt it was adequate.

The A/C was loud as hell, and practically unusable, we were lucky that we didn't need it, for if we did, we would have had to be trained to sleep in a Boeing's engine. End of the day, the view made our trip to Vancouver quite special and it was well worth it just for that.

Pros:

The location is perfect. The hotel is walking distance to several restaurants, close to Stanley Park, and only a little hike to all of the stores on Robson Street.

The room was nice and big, and gave our toddle plenty of room to run around and play. The view from the room overlooking Stanley Park, with English Bay to the west and Vancouver Harbor to the east was beautiful. The hotel was very quiet with only 8 rooms on our floor.

The staff were all very courteous, friendly, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Traveling with a toddler is never easy, but the staff (front desk/concierge) were excellent in dealing with the chaos. They were also very knowledgeable about the local area when making suggestions for restaurants.

Cons:
As many others have said, the hotel seemed dated and in need of a facelift. Some of the wallpaper in the toilet was peeling, and it just looked like it could use a little sprucing up.

Paying $25.00 a night for parking seemed a little expensive, but having a parking spot at the hotel was convenient.

I'm glad I took my laptop, as I was not able to get my mobile phone connected to the free wifi. My laptop connected without issue, but my phone would not connect. Technical support wasn't able to assist me either. I would, however, like to note that this may have been an issue with my phone, and not the hotel wifi.

Overall, this hotel really impressed me. If I ever get back to Vancouver, I will definitely be looking to stay at Coast Plaza Hotel & Suites.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room facing Stanley Park. You will not regret it!!!

This hotel is not the Ritz - it's a great 3 star hotel. Yes the hotel is a bit dated as mentioned by others, but the rooms were clean and had everything we needed to make our 4 night stay enjoyable. The front desk was very welcoming and informative. The location was perfect - quiet neighborhood but close enough to all of the action. My only complaint is about the parking. At $25 a night for hotel guests is a bit outrageous considering this is not a 5 star $350 a night hotel.

Room Tip: The upper floors have great views!

The hotel is located in great part of downtown. It has easy access to Stanley Park and is located in a neighborhood with great restaurants and bars within walking distance. The hotel is connected to a small mall that has a drug store, a discounted grocery store, a dollar store, and a Burger King. If you are staying in a suite with stove/fridge, the grocery store is the perfect for your basic needs. It's also within walking distance of a Safeway and Whole Foods. There is bus line less than a block from the hotel, but it doesn't really go anywhere. You are better off walking a couple of blocks and catching the bus on either Robson St or Georgia St. The smaller rooms come with a coffee maker, toaster, and tea kettle. Yes, this is NOT a new hotel and it is outdated, but it is very well maintained. Our room was clean, plenty of towels,we had great view, and the staff was friendly and VERY helpful.

Room Tip: Their sleeping rooms start on the 8th floor, floors 1-7 are ballrooms, meeting rooms, and a restaura...

Pros: Good location close to Stanley Park, great concierges who are very knowledgeable/helpful, price of the hotel is very reasonable for the city, parking garage is located right next to the hotel.

Cons: This hotel is very outdated and a little shabby. The pictures on the website are very deceiving - our room had peeling wallpaper, stained carpets, and an ugly pink bathtub/toilet. It would be a long walk to the main shopping areas in the city.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a decent location, I would recommend this hotel. If you are looking for a high-quality, modern hotel in the heart of the city, this is not the place for you.

This Hotel was in a GORGEOUS Part of town and the lovliest of views. It's maybe a one mile walk to the Downtown area of Granville (Main Street) and Gas Lamp district. TONS of places to shop and eat within walking distances. However, the hotel needs a Major Rehab or Update. It feels and looks like something out of the 1960's or 1970's. The Stay was fine for comfort and amenities. The Rate of the hotel was GREAT! The Hotel Staff was Very Genuine and pleasant! Even though it was a good stay, I think I would choose another location. Nothing against the hotel, just prefer another part of the city.

Dear JoPeSh3:

Thank you for your recent review. I was thrilled to read that you enjoy the great neighborhood and views that are enjoyed at our property. I am glad that your stay was comfortable too and you enjoyed our genuine and pleasant ambassadors. Where we lack in regards to a need of an update, I see some of our strengths made up for this. If this part of Vancouver is ever on your travel plans again, I hope we can be your host hotel again.

Sincerely,

Brian Rohl
