“wonderful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is an older hotel but it is right in the middle of English Bay and close to the beautiful Stanley Park. The hotel is clean, service is excellent and view of the skyline from my 19th floor room was breathtaking. There is a shopping center with a grocery store right beside it - you can go from the hotel to the shopping centre without going inside - great for rainy Vancouver days. I had a one bedroom suite with a fully equipped kitchen - terrific.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a city skyline view. Amazing!

We were on the 25th floor #2512. Great view. we were there late October. Quiet. Room was a little dated, but not bad. Bed was Wonderful ( we own a TemperPedic so this on was very sleep-able). The Employe Wayne, was out standing. Took us on a personal tour. We left a earring on the bed side by accident. House keeping did every thing they could to find it. Get out and walk to get food, the hotel is pretty expensive. Surprisingly quiet. We left our patio door open all night.
No insects in V/C for some reason? We stayed two blocks away last time 4 yr earlier in August. No need for screens on doors and windows even in the street shops! Will stay again if possible.
Over all a GREAT Couples getaway.

Room Tip: Choose one about the 25th floor. You can see a lot, but not to many roof tops. Prices go higher for...

Stayed at the Coast for a conference and got the conference rate - $188/night for a "premium" room (they had no "standard" rooms left). I can't imagine what the regular rate is, but $188 + tax got two of us a two bed, one bedroom suite with older decor, a small full kitchen and a "Bathfitter" style bathroom (colleagues who booked a couple of days earlier got a similar room for $158 + tax). A small balcony opens off the main "living room." Overall impression of the room was that it was tired and in need of a renovation/makeover. Didn't need all of the extras - would have been happy with a simpler room but this was all the had left.

Parking is an extra $20/night unless you're lucky enough to score one of the half-dozen or so parking meter spots in front of the hotel (free parking on the street between 10 pm and 9 am).

Beds were fairly comfortable but the sheets were starchy and scratchy. Sleep was next to impossible - not due to the noise of other tenants but due to the noise of the elevator. I couldn't figure out what it was at first and thought it might have been someone running a bath or moving furniture. Elevator sounds like a wounded animal moaning underwater.

The only plus side for this hotel was the location - easy walking to restaurants and bars and Stanley Park. As we got in late and had to leave early, we didn't have a chance to enjoy this aspect of our stay.

Room Tip: Don't get a room next to elevator if you can help it. If there's no parking on the street...

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago and based on my room (on the 16th floor) I would have given it 2 stars and said it was awful - my room was totally outdated and my fridge made noises all night that woke me up.
A few weeks later I stayed here again - this time on the 33rd floor in a renovated suite. MUCH BETTER!
I'll admit I'm kind of skeeved out by the bottles of shampoo and lotion - I know it's eco-friendly but it mostly screams "cheap".
And as a business traveler it's in a great location - restaruants near-by and parking. I stayed at the Mariott which is by far much nicer quality -but I do have a kitchenette, sofa, etc. so it's more comfortable. The Restaurant/bar downstairs seems to channel Miami Vice with the decor and the music but they make a good drink and everyone is friendly.
So overall I might not recommend as a business hotel (since we are all spoiled) but if I was here for vacation it's a great hotel

Room Tip: Go for a higher level - I had room 3306 and it was great! Room 1610 not so good.

We chose the hotel for the two bedroom family suite and the location. Yes, the decor is a bit dull and dated - in need of a revamp - but rooms were clean and comfortable. A shower in the en-suite would make a huge differenceas would a bright, modern kitchen area. The pool area was a bit barren but again clean with a good sized pool and spa bath. The views would have been stunning had the rain and cloud lifted. Wifi great.

Room Tip: Worth going for a high floor for the view.

While this hotel is located in a great neighborhood in Vancouver, it is old and tired. My room had lumpy, thin carpeting, not all the lights worked, and it had an odd smell. They do have a nice TV setup in the room, and the bed was ok. The staff, however, was promot and courteous.

The service was excellent and the location fabulous, with lots of restaurants and a beautiful fresh produce store nearby. I liked the retro 60's style, though the brown carpet and walls were a bit drab. My room had excellent wifi and a balcony with two views of the ocean, depending on whether I looked left or right! I also liked the view of lit skyscrapers at night. The bed was very comfortable, AND the room had a full kitchen, which I didn't even get a chance to use.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with ocean view and good wifi.
