Had a crappy view but still enjoyed my stay....
We overlooked the conference centre and definately the older section is just that, however, the beds were great (slept great), kids rec'd a free movie, housekeeping was excellent, bathroom was a little tiny but we really didn't spend alot of time in our rooms..no point..there is too much to do outside the room, excellent location for this hotel, we walked everywhere - stanley park, downtown - denman/english bay, to the lookout tower and gastown (10 min.)along the waterfront. I would book again because it was well worth what I paid on Hotwire which was about $65.00 US per night. Cdn dollar is almost at par.
Indoor pool - excellent / Outdoor - too cold in March
DIdnt eat the restaurants - too expensive and too much else nearby to check out. The front desk people were OK. would not say overly friendly but everyone else was. I asked to an upgraded view but again the $30.00 per night came into play and as we were there for a week, had to budget. They were filming a couple movies during the week at the hotel, kids found it interesting. I would definately stay again - simply for the location, price we got and the beds and the good night sleep I got.

Beautiful view! Great walking distance to TONS of shopping and restaurants. The concierge was so helpful in finding a nice little French crepe place for breakfast. I had a dance competition there and the ballrooms are huge, very beautiful and decorated nicely. The staff did a great job keeping the hotel tidy. Check in was a long process but overall a great stay!

Interesting to see such variability in ratings in some of the reviews.

I have never stayed in the Tower, but prefer the main building, and always get a room near the marina end of that building....last time I was on the 8th floor, and this time on the 4th. Stunning views of the water, boats, Stanley Park. This time I was in 415, and noticed that the X15 rooms are corner rooms, and have more space. Perhaps helped that I have a Starwood membership, but it's at basic level, so don't think I was getting any preferential treatment. And I'd booked direct on the hotel website for a cheapo C$129 rate - a steal.

Tried Cardero's restaurant (almost right beside the hotel) for the first time, and had a great evening...I would recommend it if you want to get out of the hotel but don't want to go far.

The Westin Bayshore's spectacular location right on Stanley Park, and the peace & quiet of the area, continues to make it the only place I would stay in Vancouver.

PS This was the view from my room last time on 8th floor, and 4th floor was just as beautiful!!

If you are looking for a room with a view, this is your hotel on the Vancouver Waterfront right now, the Fairmont Waterfront and the Pan Pacific being surrounded by loud and busy construction sites for another many months.

Be sure to ask for a room in the tower. Now, if you like a big bathtub and a large bathroom, this hotel is not for you, theirs are disappointingly the tiniest I've seen in North America.

But the view on the harbor, Stanley Park and the mountains is just great. Seaplanes are landing nearby but you don't hear them if the bay window is closed and they stop after dark. The Westin "heavenly" beds are a real treat too.

The spa and pool (indoor, I did not try the outdoor) are clean and airy.

The reception staff is really nice.

The only flaw (apart from the bathroom) was breakfast: everything was cold and soggy and staff invisible. But you're just a few blocks away from most of the best eating places in downtown Vancouver.

As long as the Pan Pacific is lost in noisy chaos, the Westin Bayshore is to me the best waterfront hotel in Vancouver.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Westin Bayshore from the 28th of January through till February the 2nd. We got a $60US a night rate through Priceline. An unbelievable price considering on the website it was about a hundred dollars more.

My boyfriend checked pretty quick and we were off to our room on the 7th floor. He didn't ask for anything specific but we got a corner room and it faced the water. We had a tiny balcony but it was nice. The room was pretty spacious and appointed really nicely. The bed was truly heavenly. One thing that really was great was the shower. I stayed in a Westin the week before in San Diego but the water pressure wasn't as strong. This shower head was amazing. Westins have a double shower head. I really didn't want to get out of there! The only thing is I don't really care for their Heavenly bath products. I wish they were like the W and offer Aveda or some brand name product. One great thing is that now Westin is a completely smoke free hotel. No more smoking in any of the areas or rooms. Woo hoo (sorry smokers)!

I forgot the name of our doorman but he was amazing. Really helpful and gave us his name and asked us to ask for him if we had any requests or needed anything. Service was pretty good so far.

Parking over the course of the 5 days wasn't really a problem. I could always find free street parking. During dinner hours once I had a tough time but just parked by a meter because we were going to step out again anyway. It's pretty nice if you want to save some money. Valeting the car costs about $18/day and if you self-park it's $12 and you have to walk to a garage which is beside the street parking anyway. You might as well street park for free. The signs say 2 hour free parking from 9am-6pm Monday to Saturday. They don't really check up and you just have to move your car by about 11am. I was pretty happy about free parking.

The hotel has an indoor and outdoor heated pool. Inside there's a hot tub and a eucalyptus steam room as well. There are seperate men's and women's saunas in the washrooms as well. There's a fitness area that is "Powered by Reebok" that looks really good. I didn't use it but I would have if I felt more motivated. Haha...I just watched people sweat from the swimming pool.

We didn't really eat at the hotel. There's so many great places to eat in Vancouver so we just dined out most of the time because we had our car. We did grab some muffins and juice at a cafe about half a block from the hotel. There's also a corner store where you can buy juice and water, rather than dive into the mini-bar. There's a great restaurant called Lift close by but we didn't go. Great reviews though and just behind the hotel facing the water. Denman is close by as well and we ate there as well as Robson.

Overall the place was amazing. I'd definitely go back. I always enjoy Starwood properties. The only problem that I had was on Monday night, the eve of my birthday, a fire alarm started going off when we got home from dinner. This was about 11pm. The alarm was due to a flood. They couldn't shut off the alarm for over an hour. My boyfriend passed out but I couldn't. I even called down and asked what the problem was and told them it was my birthday. I was quite disappointed when I woke up and all we got was an apology letter. I was hoping at least for breakfast buffet or something!

Anyways, overall it was a great stay and the fact that we only paid $60/night made it truly amazing. What a steal!!!
