“Nirvana on the water....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

Over the years, I have been blessed with a wide variety of travel opportunities, both for business and usually with a few extra days for pleasure tacked on afterwards. But this trip was solely for pleasure.

Having been through Vancouver many times, I decided this time to spend a few days and get to know the city a bit better, and I already knew I wanted to stay in or near Coal Harbor.

My choice of the Westin Bayshore exceeded ALL my expectations!

My wife and I are not "high maintenance" travelers, but we do expect the property and the services to be in sync with the price. Boy, were we in for a pleasant surprise.

The physical location was perfect. Located right on the water just off Burrard Bay, and in easy walking distance to Cardero's, one of our favorite restaurants, we chose a water-view room overlooking the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, with the eastern edge of Stanley Park just beyond.

The room was simple, spacious, and most comfortable. From our 8th floor balcony, we were able to watch the float planes come and go dropping off or picking up their fares. A local sightseeing cruise boat came and went, and we watched it all, enjoying while enjoying the brisk mountain air flowing through our sliding glass doors...

NOTE: we were cautioned by the gentleman that helped us with our bags to keep the doors relatively close, because aggressive seagulls had been known to pop by unannounced for a quick snack in your room, if given that opportunity.

Unfortunately, our plans kept us on the go, so we were unable to try any of the multitude of special services available here; maybe next time.

The decor and appointments were wonderful, but not gaudy, and the staff was most accommodating.

We were at this resort for six days, and regard it as one of the finest hotel stays I've had in some time.

Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: We preferred the northeast facing water-view rooms, but those on the opposite side of the building w...

We used points for our room and enjoyed a gorgeous view of Coal Harbour. The bed was comfortable, the room clean/quiet and the room layout large enough to allow us to comfortably hang out & enjoy the view when not out enjoying Vancouver. The Westin Bayshore is in a great location; we walked downtown, to Canada Place, along the seawall, around Stanley Park, to Granville Island. Staff is very nice and helpful. Easy to get a taxi from/to the Waterfront SkyTrain station and recommend that method of getting to the hotel from the airport.

Platinum sheraton member and stay at various sheratons 60 times per year. This is one of the very best. Super location right on ocean, nice rooms, awesome lobby, great staff. I stay here twice a year and love coming back every time. Close to many restaurants but also several great choices right in the hotel. You will love it!

We stayed for 3 nights recently. Overall a positive experience.
I would consider this a solid hotel room. I would not place in a resort status.

Pros:
Great Location, Great views, Friendly people, Reasonable Pricing.

Cons:
Although the room was renovated. They had forgotten to change the stained furniture, The mattress was sagging and needed to have been changed as well.
Very small bathroom
Even if you paid for the Wifi, only one device could get connected. ( In this day and age, majority of people have more than 1 device, cell, Ipad, laptop,....)

I stayed at this hotel for just one night. I booked online got a great deal and on arrival upgraded to a harbour view room, which was well worth it. Hotel public areas were clean and well presented, staff incredibly helpful. Room was spacious and well equipped. Hotel is in a great location with views out towards harbour and snow capped mountains. Food in restaurant was excellent quality albeit a bit pricing. I would highly recommend this hotel, so convenient for sight seeing and great value for money for what is a high quality hotel.

Room Tip: Go for harbour view worth the bit extra

My husband and I stayed at the Westin Bayshore for two nights while in Vancouver and it was a lovely stay! We checked in at 9:30 am yet there was a room available overlooking the pool and a partial view of the harbor. The location is perfect for walking around town and also to Stanley Park. If travelers choose not to have housekeeping services, a $5 voucher is given to use in any of the restaurants or stores in the hotel.

Special thanks to Alfredo (the concierge) who set us up with a great dinner at Carderos and who also passed on his favorite food trucks close to the art gallery for some delicious yet affordable options. His positive and funny personality may have been my favorite part of our stay :)

Room Tip: Request a full or partial harbor view ($10-20/ night for upgrade if booked through Priceline)

This hotel is in a fantastic location, the views from the rroms on the higher floors out over Coal Harbour were a great way to wake up to every morning.

The checkin was very fast and efficient, the room was of a good size but I found the charges for Internet to be far too high - you have to pay per connected device which quickly adds up if you have a smartphone, tablet etc..
