Owner description: Yaletown is Vancouver’s trendy and upscale renovated warehouse district. This fresh urban neighbourhood is just an easy walk from the centre of downtown Vancouver or a quick ferry ride from Granville Island. Yaletown’s converted heritage buildings are home to some of city’s top fashion and design shops, as well as cutting edge restaurants and bars. Old loading docks act as giant sidewalks and create a unique setting for wandering, shopping, or lounging at one of the many outdoor patios.

Short history - was the light industry area of the city -was blocks of warehouses -> multiple use buildings -> blocks of condos (aptmts) and pizza stops- busy!!

“Hip district with casual and fine dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

If you are in Vancouver, take a stroll along Homer to Hamilton and stop in at one of the great resto's, or have a martini on Vancouver's best roof top patio at the Keg.

“who knew!?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

Its a fun residential neighbourhood in the downtown, so close to everything. Had to go to a store there, was delightfully surprised by the ambience of Mainland Street, reminded me of some nice NYC neighbourhoods. Nice for walking, lots of shops and services for the residents, good street appeal, makes you want to browse around and enjoy!

“Cool”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

I really loved this neighborhood. The buildings are beautiful, and it felt quieter than the rest of the city. There were some really great restaurants, and we really just enjoyed the feel of this neighborhood.

“Train Roundhouse Museum Was Cool!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

If you are a railroad buff, this is a great little museum. The hours might vary a bit, but it's free. So go earlier than later, climb up into a steam engine and ring the bell once, and see a real roundhouse and turntable much as they once had been. The building has been nicely restored, but also updated for 21st century functionality. They did a really nice job with it. I enjoyed learning about the history of Canada's first transcontinental railroad and its place in the history of both the city and the province.
