“Best View in Vancouver”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

Because we stayed at the Pan Pacific Seattle for our wedding, we decided to book Pan Pacific Vancouver for our 2nd wedding anniversary on the shoulders of our trip to Whistler. We stayed in a corner king with a harbor view on our first night and on our return trip we were (surprise!) upgraded to a harbor view from the city view king that I had booked. We were also delighted to find a beautifully decorated chocolate cake as an anniversary surprise. In addition, you can't beat the location for downtown Vancouver -- you're within walking distance of Gastown, Robson Street, and near the bus to Granville Island. The rooms aren't quite as well appointed as the Seattle Pan Pacific (missing the glorious bathtubs with views) and the hotel is a bit more sprawling, but it is elegant, clean, and convenient. My only complaint about this trip was that the concierge was too busy to help us -- we stood for about 10 minutes while she helped another guest and did not even acknowledge our presence or say anything when we left after getting tired of waiting. Otherwise, the service by all other staff members was superb (one of the bellman gave us a great restaurant recommendation after we gave up waiting for the concierge).

Room Tip: Splurge on the harbor view, otherwise why are you staying at a waterfront hotel?

We recently spent a couple of nights after arriving from New Zealand on our way through to Alberta... a fantastic spot to recover from jetlag!.. very handy to downtown & all the amenities. We stayed in the harbour room...with great views.

My wife and I have stayed several times at the Pan Pacific in Vancouver over the past year or so. All but one time we stayed for business purposes and without exception the place continues to please us. Great location, with beautiful city and water views and fantastic beds and rooms. Checking in has always been a breeze and we have always been treated well by staff. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The only "non-wonderful" thing is that the Pan is starting to show it's age a bit. Not that things don't work or anything like that, just you can tell it was built in the late 80's or early 90's (I believe??). Regardless, it's a great hotel and we always get great value usually paying around $159 per night. I cannot recommend it enough!!

The Location is great, everything is quite near. Our room was very big. But of you are near the elevator, you can hear the sound of it. There is a Starbucks in the same building and there are a lot of Restaurants in the neighbourhood. But as most five star hotels, they charge a lot for Internet. But of you go down, near Starbucks, you can use their free internet.

...then this is a hotel for you!

positives:
- did i mention the view?
- great location, pretty much within walking distance to foods, tour buses/rides
- nice decks (i mean, the hotel decks where they put the giant sails)
- feels like you're in a cruise ship
- great valet service

negatives:
- dirty bathroom; tiny toilet
- room furniture looks torn and old
- rude frontdesk personnels
- the check-in counter, elevators, are somewhat confusing
- no free wifi (unless you tap into starbucks' wifi nearby by the entrance)

be prepared to bring loose change, it's Vancouver!!! parking needs to be handled by valet - they're quick & responsive. one guy that leaves a very good impression is Jason(?) - his picture is inside the hotel's elevators. a great guy.

Central, luxurious, an ever vigilant staff has helped us have some epic parties on our way through my old home town. The suites are wonderful, especially if you can get one with a terrace. Had a gathering of about 20 old friends for cocktails and a buffet. All planned and ordered with warm dishes etc and then the power blew out in the Downtown area. They managed to regroup a cold buffet with sushi, cold cuts and prawn cocktails while setting up with candles because of night and no power. Very good price/performance!

Room Tip: Always ask for a room with a view of the Harbour and the North Shore
