Booked hotel through British Airways.com with the offer of " Stay 3 nights, 4th is free!" Worked out at a very reasonable US$54 per night inclusive of all taxes etc. Rather let down with the parking fee of Cdn$12 /night + taxes for parking. Thought this a little excessive.
Stayed here in 2001 and have noticed that the hotel was re-decorated in 2004, though a little worn now in spots. What I really noticed was how the neighborhood has changed - seems much safer. The dingy hotel across the street was demolished and a brand-new Best Western built.
Check-in very friendly and smooth. Offered a choice of room facing Granville St. which we we were told would be noisier than a room facing the condo behind. We chose the room facing Granville - Room was ok and traffic noise not too bad. View was better than the back alley! - double beds instead of queen.
A+++++ to housekeeping - really serviced the rooms well. Nice to come back to a clean room.
Tried the restaurant on the first night as we had arrived late - seemed expensive. As we had kids, had the dining room all to ourselves. Unfortunately, only one staff on duty in the bar and restaurant. Ordered a smoked salmon salad - menu stated it was on rye/or cam with rye. When enquiring where the rye bread was, was told the menu had a typo! Why not tell the customer when they ordered? Good for late arrival, but better to go off-site.
Overall- great location for Granville island and Yaletown. Not too far to Robson Street. I would stay here again.
Good service and friendly staff. Occasionally noisy guests in the corridoor, but obviously not the hotels fault. The hotel is a little aged and worn, but clean. I would stay here again.
