“Doesn't deserve its bad reputation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2009

I headed to Bella Pacifica this month with some serious trepidation after reading several VERY nasty reviews on Trip Advisor, however what I found was a pleasant, highly adequate campground in an idealic setting.

We (my husband, two boys (8 & 3) and my parents arrived on a Tuesday afternoon in glorious weather. We had one camp site reserved in the Forest loop which was more than large enough for our kitchen tent, my parents two man tent, our tent trailer and two vehicles. Admittedly, the sites are fairly close together but most sites in either the Forest Loop or the Tin-Wis loop offer reasonable privacy. I would however, steer clear of the Oceanside, Seaview and Beachfront sites if you cherish a quite nook in the. These sites offer a rather spectacular setting - overlooking Mackenzie beach but offer little in the way of privacy or space. On less than perfect weather days these sites can also be lashed by heavy winds where as the sites further back are more sheltered from the wind. One exception to this would be the sites off the far north end of the Ocean side loop (Sites 94-109). They are tucked away down a dead end road and get little if any traffic.

Bella Pacifica definitely is a large, busy campsite so if its seclusion you seek I would head elsewhere but if you are looking for a fun, easy campground situated on a fabulous beach then this is your spot. We spent day after day with the kids on the beach and never got bored. Bring bocce ball, kites, bikes, sand toys, boogie and skim boards - there's ample space for everyone to play.

we drove from calgary and stayed 7 nights(in a tent) it was just awesome everything was great the staff the campsite and the location was perfect close to everything we are already planing for next year we had no problems with our booking and the staff was so personable, the overall campground was kept nice and had no problems with excess noise (we are all here for a good time) the beach was the best and 2 seconds away there were plenty of rest rooms and we found them to be kept up very well ( very clean, Tolietpaper was always full) we just loved it our 13 year old son had the time of his life(we saw whales:o) ) and is looking forward to our trip next year to this same camp ground ,,,, we would like to thank the staff / Bella pacifica for making our west coast experience one of our best Thank-you :o)

Well, I have to say how disappointing this place has become...We have stayed here before and knew what to expect going back. When we checked in they told us our site was double booked for the last day we were there so they told us we would have to move out of the site for the last night(after being in it for five days). I was not impressed but what do you do!!!
Our picnic table was falling apart so we couldn't even eat off it because it was so crooked. The bathrooms were filthy all six days we were there, and don't forget you have to supply your own handsoap when you use the washroom because they don't have any for their guests to use. They shut the water off on the last day we were there, could be because of the water restrictions. But, the campers that stayed in sites with water and electricity still had their water on, not sure what that was all about. The young guys running the place were very nice though, that was the only positive!!!! We will stay in Crystal Cove Resort next time, it's maintained beautifully, you don't have to pay for showers or firewood and it's still right on the beach...

It's a campground!! It is in Tofino area so it's a busy place. We did have a little trouble getting through on the phone but once we did the staff was certainly helpful in booking us. Once we arrived, they were again very helpful to us.
We stayed at the campground on a Friday night and ours was a beautiful site overlooking the ocean. It was a little bit small, but it's nothing we couldn't handle. It was surrounded by trees so it was completely private which was nice. The showers were quite clean-considering that it is a campground that was completely full when we were there-and the water was hot. The bathrooms were always stocked with toilet paper and we never had to wait in line to use the facilities. We had gone surfing in the late afternoon so when we came back we were quite tired and did not stay up too late. We did not experience any problems with noisy groups or anything like that and overall were very pleased.
My only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer. My advice to potential Bella Pacifica campers would be to bring your own wood as it is quite expensive there ($5/bundle), book in advance, and have some patience when calling to book. They have over 180 camp sites which are typically completely booked at any given time and I imagine the call volume they receive must be far more overwhelming than your average office call centre. I really would advise anyone to check this campsite out if they are lucky enough to find a spot there!
Happy camping!!

My husband & I stayed in 176 - we loved the forest & the quietness. We particularly appreciated the friendliness of your staff - Scott in particular.
Cheers,
Heidi

we were SO impressed with this campsite! right on a gorgeous beach, super clean washrooms, close to everything... and the staff was unreal. we were a little unprepared for the rain (yeah i know, what were we thinking?!) and the staff were more than happy to provide us with a tarp, matches, firewood, you name it. they even helped us novice campers set it up. yep, they saved us big-time and what could have been a miserable rained-out vacation turned into a fantastic trip. we're already making plans to try to get out of the city and back to bella pacifica!

I didnt read the other reviews before booking - honestly i dont think these other people camp. I saw the washrooms cleaned twice a day, there were people that partied - but it was never that bad. Unfortunately there were some campsites had a lot of gravel on them from the road, but not most. The campgrounds weren't huge but they were private and surrounded by dense, lush vegetation. The paths were nice, and the beach was awesome. The staff were nice, definitely surf bums... really nice and helpful.

I really dont know what these other people in these reviews are expecting to get from a campground. I would definitely stay there again
