“Great value - very clean, comfortable room with a view!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2010

My friend and I stayed in the Sunrise Suite, which has three big windows facing an ocean view through the trees and is separated by the Garden Suite by just one room. The room was very clean and modern and the beds were super comfortable with nice, new linens. It was great to have a mini fridge and table with two chairs, to fix your own breakfast. The only thing that would have made it better would be to have dish soap provided and maybe a toaster. There's also no TV in this suite, but that did not bother us at all. There is wireless internet provided and we weren't in our room except to sleep anyways!

I agree with the reviewer below - the walls are very thin. We did have guests staying above us (where you can rent out an entire floor apparently) who kept us up way into 3am with their yelling and partying. Once I let the owner (Haley) know she immediately rectified the situation. She went above and beyond what I expected and it made up for the two rather sleepless nights.

The location is really close to Mackenzie Beach, about a 5 min walk. Another 10 minutes gets you to the little junction that has a small grocery store, video store, clothing shops, coffee shop, and two "restaurants" - more like take-away places. But the place with the tables outside that are giant spools has the BEST halibut fish and chips! You gotta try it!

They offer two suites, each with private entrances on the bottom level of a home, both with a narrow view of Browning Inlet. There's a path down to the inlet, it's mostly mud flats at low tide, but it's nice regardless. I stayed in the Garden Suite. The suite was modern, clean, well lit, and had a small fridge, kettle, dining table, a few dishes, flat screen TV that plays DVDs, futon sofa, bed and dining table, bathroom/shower, and separate sink and mirror...nothing fancy but nice. Free wireless internet was also included, so who needs cable TV? In the summer, you will be extremely hard pressed to find other similar (or better) quality accommodations for the $125 rate they charge. That said, there is one problem to consider if you're thinking of renting a suite - both suites are connected by a locked door that affords absolutely no sound privacy between the suites, which makes your stay, and that of your neighbors a bit awkward. I would have no hesitation if you're renting both suites, you'll have a nice stay and sleep well, it's extremely quiet there at night. If you're thinking of renting one suite, check with the owners to see if the other suite will be occupied and decide for yourself. From the location, it's a short drive into town or to Chesterman Beach. Good food can be had at SOBO, Shelter, the Wild Side Grill, and Tough City Sushi, and great coffee at Caffé Vincente. I'd highly recommend the hot springs zodiac trip with Remote Passages - fantastic. If you need surfing rentals, head to the Long Beach Surf Shop (~$40/day for a board, suit, rack), and lessons, head to the Bruhwiler Surf School. If you want to go fishing, talk to Chris at the inn and he can fill you in on his rates.
