“Loved Waters Edge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2005

My fiance and I stayed at the Waters Edge Inn for 5 nights in September this year and it was one of the nicest places we have ever been.

We stayed in the main house in the Starfish room with en-suite bathroom with jaccuzzi tub, we also had access to a private deck. The room was very large, with a huge extremely comfortable bed. The common areas in the house are spotlessly clean and very comfortable with an abundance of books, games and even a TV if you need it (we didn't). However the best feature is undoubtably the stunning view through the wall of windows and the deck (with hot tub). We spotted bald eagles and porpoises most days and the deck is the perfect spot to watch the sunset.

Breakfast was very tasty (well done Steve) and was different each day we were there. The homemade bread and muffins were a particular highlight and it was good to be able to chat with fellow guests.

Steve and Crystal (and Bella the dog) are wonderful hosts, who make you feel right at home and if there is anything they can do to make your stay more enjoyable they will. Every time we returned after a day out a pot of tea magically appeared for me - fantastic. They are happy to share their knowledge of the local area, book tours, suggest walks and restaurants etc etc. Steve even gave us a lift to the bus when we were reluctantly leaving.

The location of the house is a short walk out of town (5-10 minutes) next to a pretty beach so it is wonderfully peaceful and torches are provided for when it gets dark.

In short we loved the Waters Edge and can't wait to return.

We visited the Water's Edge B&B in September and had a great time. The Water's Edge is a little different than other B&B's we've stayed in before - they have a main house which is like a traditional B&B which is shared with the hosts Steve & Crystal. They also have a second house which is on the same property but separate from the traditional B&B. The original house offers up warm breakfasts every morning - cooked by Steve and served by Crystal. What a great place to meet other travellers - as many as 6 people can eat breakfast together. The separate house offers up a continental breakfast every morning - delivered bright & early for the early risers.

The accomodation was great - very comfy queen bed in the Sunset suite which we stayed in. It was part of the separate house. It has a huge soaker tub built for 2. Plus, a fireplace, coffee maker, kettle & tea, and a small fridge for fresh cream and leftovers. The deck is shared with another suite but looks out over the ocean - not directly on the cliff like the main house, but close enough to see the water. Guests in the separate house are welcome to sit on the deck of the main house which sits right on top of the cliff overlooking the tranquil ocean (sheltered by a nearby island from the typical ocean chop). The view from the living room in the main house is outstanding - you may even see a porpoise or seal swimming right below or a bald eagle sitting in the tree up above.

The hosts have lived in Tofino for years and can offer tons of advice and directions. They also have a vast assortment of menus from local eateries to show you. Plus, plenty of pamphlets for the many tours offered in the town (whale watching, bear watching, sea kayaking, etc.)

I'd recommend Water's Edge to anyone who enjoys B&B's - a great find.

During our first holiday in Canada, my wife and I spent 2 nights in August 2005 in Water's Edge. Most of our lodgings during our trip were in B&B's, some of which were 5 star accommodations. This address however was our number One. Apart from the really splendid spot, right on the ocean, we felt at home immediately. Steve and Crystal were excellent hosts and gave us lots of advice for making our short stay one to remember.

My wife, Nora, and I recently had three nights (Aug 29 to Sept 1) staying at the Water's Edge Inn in Tofino as part of a 17 day jaunt around BC and Alberta. Whilst all the places we stayed were very good, I'd like to especially recommend Water's Edge to readers.
First thing to notice is that it has a great location, a little away from the main village (a short walk) but set up on a cliff face with a lovey trail down to a public but uncrowded beach. The huge open plan lounge and dining area overlooks the bay and has a great view out and across to Wickaninish Island. It gets the best sunsets if you're lucky enough to have those kind of days / evenings!
Steve is the host. On arrival he took time out to give us an orientation of the trails, beaches, restaurants and activities in the area and over the days there, his advice proved spot on.
What you get at Water's Edge is an open lounge, a perfect place to sit and chat with other guests or the host family (Crystal, Mary Ellen and Ed) who are only too happy to share their ideas and suggestions - or not, as you wish.
It goes without saying that the breakfasts are wonderful and they took Nora's vegitarian preferences into consideration with no problem at all.
Our room was clean, comfortbale and spacious - an ensuite bathroom with a great spa bath for soothing away the aches of walking the trails.
A great place to stay and we'd certainly recommend it and come back again if the opportunity arises.

We stayed at Water's Edge for our honeymoon in spring of 2002. It was one of the top highlights of an incredible trip. The hosts were incredibly friendly and provided us with one of the best stays we had. They had great knowledge of the area and the view from their deck is breathtaking. It's a great value for a great stay.
