“Location isn't everything”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

This is a great location just back from the water's edge on a slight rise and only one block from Tofino's main street (which to confuse isn't Main Street). We had a sea view room with great views up Clayoquot Sound. However when the sea mist rolled in the view disappeared and you were forced to consider what the room offered. Not much, two mismatched, albeit comfortable, beds and an old sideboard for storage, The staff were friendly and helpful but the hotel looked in need of some TLC. Disapointing

Excellent location for walking around Tofino, off the highway and right on the water. Ask for a marina view room - worth the bit extra to watch the sunset, see the sea planes, wildlife and island views. The inn looks old but isn't - just built with recycled brick and stained glass windows, decorated for the early 1900's, with each room having its own unique artwork. Great bed and bathroom. Cluttered entry was a bit of a put off, but in keeping with having lots of visitor information available.

Room Tip: Ask for your preference - sunrise or sunset room. Rooms on waterfront are quiet, excellent view.

I think this is a great place to stay at if you want to get a feel for Tofino. This Inn has beautiful art work and stained glass to admire and nice folks to chat with. We thought it was a bit expensive for what it was but we had such a great time and saw lots of eagles from our window! We stayed one night and didn't have a chance to try the sushi but locals told us it's amazing!

Room Tip: Top floor was wonderful. Keep in mind the balcony isn't covered and it rains A LOT!

This was our third time here. Each time we stayed in a different room and enjoyed all for different reasons. This is a newer building built with reclaimed material such as stained glass windows, bricks and gym flooring. The décor is east meets west meets old and new. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the goings on with our coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. Some rooms have big soaker tubs, some with water jets.

Crazy Ron, the Inns owner, just adds to the quirky charm. We were served amazing sushi and sea food with very pleasant staff. We love it here.

Room Tip: Rooms on the water side are great for watching the boats and sea planes, sunsets and the bird and oc...

Stayed here for 2 nights. The place has a good feel but is definitely on the funky side although not without a certain charm, but be prepared for some grit on the floors as the rooms have no carpeting. The bathrooms are quite nice. If you're looking for a lot of B&B fluff you won't find it here. The sushi restaurant downstairs is pretty good.

Room Tip: I believe that we had room #6 which has the exhaust fan from the restaurant right outside its slidin...

We were only staying for one evening and because selected the Inn at Tough City as our place to stay because of it's location. When we arrive we were told that all the power was out from Uculet, Tofino and further up. We had looked forward to a nice dinner and ended up making sandwiches from food that we bought at the Co-Op. The power didn't come on until 11:00 pm and of course we had turned in for the evening. Everything is very old and even though the bed was comfortable it was a mattress put on top of a frame constructed in wood products. We had a partial view of the water but again the small deck looked as though they were doing some work on it and there were 2 chairs out there that had seen better days. When we checked out the next day I asked them if they could give us a discount being as we were inconvenienced with no power and he just laughed and treated it as a joke. I know that in the future if I ever travel to Tofino again I'll find more suitable accommodation, power or no power.

Linda

Room Tip: Queen beds facing the water (Room 2). Upstairs may be okay but I never got to check out those rooms.

Ok people..........first your in Tofino, high prices without the luxury you would think you would get for your money........i have stayed in a few places in Tofino and if you look everybody has had poor experiances.............I would rather had a poor experiance with a 200.00 a night place then a 500.00 night place...........I did stay here I am not sure what these people are talking about,I thought the owner was down to earth and great to deal with ,as with there staff.........the rooms were large and clean, great view of the harbour, close to town for you to walk around,,,,,,,,,,,,sat on the balcony at night with some wine and loved the sun comming in the morning and drinking coffee watching the activity of the harbour..........its more for couples, yes there is noise from the harbour/town/bar............but it quiets down when its late just like a city.............for the price and what you get I would stay here again.

Room Tip: get the ones with the balcony facing the ocean.
