This stunning traditional Northwest Coast longhouse with a carved and painted cedar plank exterior and doors of beaten copper, is a recognizable Tofino landmark. Inside discover Roy's artwork of paintings, original prints, calendars, art cards, and reproductions hanging on hand adzed cedar walls among totem poles and carvings. As you enter the large main hall, you'll notice the soft lighting and restful music that creates an atmosphere of harmony and peace. The gallery is open free to the public seven days a week throughout the year. Built in 1986 with the help of Roy's family and legendary carver Henry Nolla, this gallery welcomes more than 500,000 visitors a year from all around the world. Please check the events calendar page to see when Roy is scheduled to be storytelling at Eagle Aerie Gallery - this is a not to be missed attraction! Afterwards Roy is available to meet guests and autograph his reproductions.

“If you only have time for one First Nations Art display - this must be it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2011

OK, I admit, we had no knowledge of Roy Henry Vickers before walking into this gallery but we were converted within one minute of being inside. The gallery itself is beautifully laid out with a fabulous ambience. The colours of the artwork were vibrant, bold and breathtaking. The informative pieces written to accompany each piece really helped to understand the creativity behind the artwork. We could have spent hours there (plus a lot of money) but we couldn't and were good (sorry Roy). In the sales area at the back was a wide range of prints/cards/posters and the ladies working there were very helpful. The books available are beautiful reminders but the original artwork is beyond comparison. Take time to go around!!

The Eagle Aerie Gallery is laid out in such a way that you feel like you have the whole place to yourself, even on a summer day when there are many other visitors about. And if you can be there for a storytelling day...don't miss that!

“Native Canadian Artwork Set in a Serene and Peaceful Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2007

Roy Henry Vickers has created a beautiful and peaceful place for visitors to Vancouver Island. In Tofino, north of Victoria on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, is the gallery of his artwork. It is set up in a way that you can see the shadows of Native Indian images hidden in the beautiful, colour images of Long Beach and other landscapes of the area. I highly recommend a visit.
