“Everything we hoped for and more”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013 via mobile

We had looked forward to our stay for months and the Inn and its setting on the beach were everything we hoped for and more . Beautiful , spacious and luxuriously appointed room perched over the sea and rocks Perfect for whale watching from our room ( binoculars provided ) We had blue sky days and took a water taxi over to Meares island to do the boardwalk among the ancient cedars . Another trip by boat to the Hot Springs with return by sea plane -which gave fantastic views of the coastline and was fun to do. ( Backpacks, lunch pack provided- very generous portions! )
As it was a special occasion for us we were contacted by the chef to ask if we had any special requests for dinner that evening - We were happy for him to create his own menu for us and he prepared the most delightful , creative and individual experience for us - very special indeed.

“You Can't buy class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

This is the most luxurious hotel in Canada and the staff goes above and beyond every time. I have never had any issues with their customer service, and in fact if I did I am confident it would be resolved right away. The attention to detail and all the small touches makes this place like no other. The wicks guests are loyal and the service is what makes us come back again and again. These ladies clearly don't stay at luxury hotels often and like the title states, you can’t buy class. This site is not about bashing hotels, and I do not understand what is so helpful about posting on the internet that you put your jacket on a burning candle - maybe the waiter should have cut you "crazy ladies” off. If anything, the wick needs to raise the standard of guests they bring in. They were always sophisticated and down to earth; loving the hotel and all Tofino has to offer. I could just imagine the scene you caused disturbing everyone else’s dinner. Get over it and take responsibility for your own foolishness. You can tell these people don’t know what they’re talking about - they made a trip advisor account just to spite the hotel because the hotel didn’t pay for your jacket and dinner. As all the other reviews state, if you go to the wick you are treated like loyalty and will not be disappointed.

“The Crazy Ladies of Washington State”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Seven mature ladies who were staying at a nearby resort last week (March 3-8, 2013) decided to have happy hour at the Wickaninnish as it was reported to be THE resort in the area with a stunning view.. We were seated and enjoying wine and appetizers in the lounge area when suddenly flames began to shoot out of what appeared to be our friend across the table's head. A quick witted waiter grabbed her coat which was ablaze and threw it outside, A candle behind her, unseen by our group had caught her coat, which was laid over the back of her seat, on fire. She was miraculously unhurt but the coat was totaled and we were in shock.
We thought the management would have been anxious to a) comp us our wine and food and certainly b) replace the coat without question. They did neither and only after some extensive and distinctly unpleasant negotiations were they willing to accept any responsibility at all.
We feel that such treatment is hardly commensurate with the quality of establishment that the Wickaninnish purports to be in their advertising. Needless to say, we won't return.

Dear Crazy Ladies of Washington State,
We are terribly sorry that a member of your party placed their coat on top of a burning table top candle flame which then caught fire thus disrupting your evening and that of all our other guests in The Pointe Restaurant and the On the Rocks Lounge.
I was very pleased to learn that one of our staff was able to notice the situation, react appropriately to have it removed outside without any harm to any of your party with only a small amount of damage to the furniture on which it was located, and that you and your party continued on with the rest of your evening with us.
We attempt to ask all our guests if we can hang up their coats as they arrive and we certainly have a closet available for this very purpose, although it seems this did not occur with your party as the host was busy with other guests at the time of your arrival. I understand from our team that our manager on duty provided a coat from the Inn to take on departure and also provided the card of our Restaurant Manager who followed up directly with your friend and agreed to pay half the cost of replacing the coat.
While I am disappointed to learn that we did not meet your expectations of providing you and your party of 7 with complimentary food and wine for the evening and replace the coat without question, I believe there is also a certain level of personal accountability for placing one’s own garment on a burning flame and sharing in the cost seems a fair and reasonable resolution to the issue. If you and your party feel differently we would be pleased to continue the discussion and you can reach me via Trip Advisor’s Private Messaging System or directly at sandy@wickinn.com.

“Awesome view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

Just got back from 2 nights here. The Point Deluxe rooms are awesome, right over the rocks where the waves crash. Unfortunately, no big storm, I think we missed it by 12 hours! Gorgeous view of the ocean crashing from the double soaker tub. The private balconies are awesome! Beds are very comfy. The staff was very attentive and even remembered our name after meeting once! Did find the Inn a bit on the stuffy side though. We like to kick back and relax in a more casual setting. Found everything to be a bit formal for us. Service was impeccable though in the Pointe Restaurant as well the Inn. Slept with our sliding door open both nights so we could hear the waves but also found that the rooms got very stuffy as there is no a/c. Even with heat off, it was overly warm.

Room Tip: We had 3 floor with king bed in the Point section.

“Very relaxing and amazing attention to detail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

We stayed at the Wickaninnish Inn for our anniversary in January. Jason took our reservation and made sure that every service or detail that we may want during our stay was offered. From the moment that we arrived, we were impressed with the attention to detail and the excellent staff throughout the Inn and restaurant. Wherever we met staff during our stay, we were always greeted in a friendly, professional manner. We had a room on the second floor with a great view of the breaks at Chesterman Beach and Frank island. The room was very comfortable and every conceivable need was present from a hidden TV to local books and binoculars. The bathroom and soaker tub were well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. We had both dinner and breakfast in The Point Restaurant. The food, service and (of course) the views were excellent. Our dinner server was Ane and she and the other restaurant staff insured that we had a very pleasant and memorable anniversary dinner. We are looking forward to a return visit for our next anniversary.
