“Nice resort in laid back Tofino”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

This is a modern resort with nice touches. They have a wide variety of accomodations. We stayed at one of the beach houses which are nicely appointed 2 bedrooms running around 1350 sq feet. The location on the beach was terrific. The kitchen was well stocked and there were plenty of amenities in the bathrooms.

The downside of this property is that there is no on site restaurant and so you either have to cook yourself or drive out for dinner. One other downside was that there were no shades or curtains on the upper windows in the master bedroom and so for those who do not light bright mornings, be aware. What shades there are in the two rooms are semi transparent and do let the light in. The patio door also did not lock so be sure to check if everything works.

This hotel is very well situated right on the beach in Tofino but is very overpriced for what it delivers. We stayed in a lighthouse suite which was over $ 300/ night and looked dated. The bathroom could definitely do with an upgrade and the shower pressure was very weak. The bedroom is very small. Charging to use bikes and asking for a donation for DVD movies seemed just cheap. If the hotel wants to make a donation they certainly can at the prices they are charging.

Staff at the front desk were polite but did not go the extra distance I would have wanted.

We tried the BBQ one night at the beach which is in a nice setting. Food was good but the staff seemed to want to rush us a bit so they could close it down as it was the second setting of the night.

Tofino overall is a special place though be prepared for the cool temperatures and constant fog. The water is freezing so unless you have a wet suit don't plan on getting in past your ankles.

A visit to Meares island via a water taxi service and pickup is certainly very special.

Restaurants in the area are very pricey. There are cute galleries in and around the town.

I am a returning visitor and this time we came with the family to celebrate 5th wedding anniversary of my daughter- and it was a wonderful time, every minute of it!
Cozy and welcoming rooms (we rented a beach house and a beachfront suite) with great view of the beach and ocean, comfortable beds, fireplace, balcony, everything you might need for cooking and dining, very helpful staff, fantastic location- makes it a dream place to stay.

The staff was very nice and accommodating: we had our cake delivered to them the day before we arrived and it was brought to us by the staff soon after we checked in.
Our small party was great, the bbq next day was fantastic as well- we used the smaller bbq place.
It is also awesome that we are able to bring our dogs with us- one of them is visiting this hotel for the second time.
Dreamy morning walk on the tranquil beach with the dogs at sunrise, surfing lessons in the morning, party in the afternoon, strolling on the sand at sunset, watching stars sitting at the bonfire on the beach - what can be better?
On the practical side- it is very comfortable, spotlessly clean, with very professional and extremely friendly staff, fantastic location. As to the fact that they do not have a restaurant - we bought most of the necessary food on our way here in Coombs (Goats on the Roof market is unique and offers very good products, very fresh and mostly local, and the produce store is very good there too), there is also a nice Co-op store in Tofino. If you do not feel like cooking at all- there are sandwiches and coffee in the office, well-stocked freezer with dinners from SoBo and Vijj's, as well as plenty of restaurants in Tofino (about 15 min drive from the hotel)
It is sure not cheap, but it is worth it in my opinion and definitely we will be back.

Room Tip: Upstairs beachfront suites offer better view of the beach and ocean, as well as the balcony feels mo...

Spent five great nights here in July 2013. Such a beautiful place with a huge unspoiled beach filled with rock-pools and wildlife. It is a resort and not a hotel. You need to have your own transport and to cook for yourself.

We stayed in one of the new beach houses and were very impressed with the quality of the accommodation. Well thought out design and very well equipped. Sleeping with the windows open and the sound of the waves was really relaxing. Every thing you could possibly want in the kitchen. By the way, the Coop in Tofino has a great choice so don't waste your time buying groceries in Nanaimo or Port Alberni like we did.

Totally relaxing and extremely comfortable. Great for families.

Room Tip: Choose beach house 22, 23 or 24 for the best views

My husband and I recently hosted 50 friends and family at the Pacific Sands Beach Resort for our 6 day wedding.

We chose PS because of it's beach access, gazebo & firepit, range of accommodation types and for allowing us to put up a party tent for catered dinners for our guests.

The staff were extremely helpful and gracious. Most of the rooms were quite nice. My husband and I stayed in once of the villas with a hot tub (we'd stayed there before) and it was gorgeous.

Pro's - beach front, great staff, nicer accommodations available (for more $$$ obviously ;) ), pet friendly and the cafe makes great soy lattes! Very helpful and flexible in working with us for our wedding needs. Large grassy area great for games. The gazebo / firepit is a fantastic place to gather as a large group. The salmon bbq's they do there are amazing!

Con's - no on-site restaurant but you can walk down the beach to Long Beach Lodge. The rooms in the "beachfront suites" were not as nice (we stayed in one of them in Feb and it was smelly).

Room Tip: Some rooms have in-suite laundry. Highly recommend the luxury beach houses.

A room with a view! A hot tub on the deck while you watch the storms. The room has the most comfortable mattress and feather bed we've ever been on, and a fireplace warming us through the night. We had a small kitchen that we used for breakfast only and lunch and dinner were spent at the great variety of restaurants and cafe's. The beach was littered with sand dollars in the early morning and we could see star fish in purples, blue, red and orange. It was such a wonderful weekend. Highly recommend.

Sitting on our balcony enjoying a glass of excellent BC wine watching the surfers in the late afternoon sea fog! What a great place. Lovely, well appointed suite (lighthouse suites) within sight and sound of the beach. The huge covered Gazebo fit and BbQ is blazing nearby and you can bring your own ingredients to cook and eat next to the beach. Nicely appointed and equipped rooms. Only two things would make it better - a bar that also does food and a good WiFi!
