“Has everything you need”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

I stayed in one of the 2 bedroom loft suites and it was FANTASTIC. There are 2 full bathrooms with huge tubs and heated floors - my new favorite feature! The view from the loft bedroom was awesome and the view from the patio on the lower level was pretty good too! The suites themselves are like a modern condo with everything you need. Full kitchen with all the cooking implements and dishes you'll need too. Fireplace, comfy couch, big tv and the beds are sooooooo comfortable. Like sleeping in a cloud. It's great if you have kids too cause the 1st bedroom is on the main floor on the back side of the unit and the loft is on the top floor on the front end so there's lots of separation!

The hotel itself doesn't really have many amenities, it's more like renting a condo than staying in a full service hotel but that's what most people want when they go to Tofino, in my opinion anyway. Because the food service options are relatively limited, most people get stuff at the grocery store and bring it back to the hotel to cook. It's also often what you're more in the mood to do after a long day exploring the beaches or rainforests.

Room Tip: Even if you're staying by yourself, ask if you can be upgraded to a 2 bedroom cause then you'...

We stayed at the Cox Bay Beach Resort in late November and had one of the two-bedroom suites that we shared with another couple. Each suite had a full bathroom so we had no problems "sharing" the bathroom with the other couple. The suite came equipped with a full size fridge and stove, a dishwasher, dishes for six, some small appliances (like a kettle, blender, coffee maker) as well as a good selection of pots and pans. There was also a large washer/dryer which came in handy. The dining area had a table and chairs for four, and the living room had a nice couch, some chairs, a gas fireplace and a flat screen TV. There was also a good sized covered deck with a table and chairs accessible from the living room.

The suite was very clean and well decorated, and did not have any of the worn or dated furniture mentioned by an earlier reviewer. The bed was very comfortable and had nice fresh white sheets and a duvet. The bathroom had lots of towels, shampoo, soap, conditioner, a hair dryer, and robes. We found the rooms to be quite dark, especially the bathroom which really needs extra lighting above the mirror. Forget about doing any reading at night in the bedroom or the living room unless you bring your own light.

Common areas included a sauna, gym, hot tub, and a lounge which has a few books and magazines as well as a wood burning fireplace, a kitchen and two BBQs right outside the door.

Cox Bay Resort is right on a good beach for walking although Chesterman Beach (next beach to the north) is much longer if you want some additional exercise. The resort does not have any dining facilties but it is located right next door to Long Beach Lodge where you can easily get meals (although not cheaply). Tofino is about a 10 minute drive, and there is a good selection of eating establishments with differing price ranges.

Finally, there is lots of secure parking seperated from the main road by a coded gate. Front desk staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay very much.

With regard to comments by some other reviewers, we did not experience any noise problems but we were on the second floor well away from the stairs. I can see that noise could become a problem if you are situated in a lower unit near the stairs. I do agree that the cleaning service was late in the day (probably around 4pm). Also the price is not cheap but we were lucky enough to get a good deal on Travel Zoo. The resort web site also has different deals so watch for those if you want to lower the cost of you stay.

I had the pleasure of staying here and vwas very impressed. The loft suites are amazing as a bank of motorized blinds open up to a spectacular view of the ocean and wind swept coastal trees.
The kitchen was superbly equipped, complete with nice cutlery, blender, juicer, and a vast array of pots, and pans to make any meal.
The linnens are beautiful, the bed like sleeping in a cloud, and I took the pullows apart to find the brand as they were so wonderful.
The staff at the desk were helpful and effecient .
I highly recommend this resort!

Got this via Travel Zoo getaway deal, and am so glad I jumped at the offer. This is a great place to stay, you may not have a full view of beach however, it's still a view... rooms were fabulous and beds really nice and comfy. Stairs were a bit of a workout to bring everything up, once in though...forgot all about it... didn't realize they had a infra red sauna and will keep note of that for the next time...would I stay here again... absolutely!!!

Room Tip: If you want more of a view...will have to ask for one closer to the beach... it is loud when the wav...

Two couples stayed here for one night for a quick Thanksgiving getaway. The weather was so warm and beautiful for October. Lots of surfers and people just enjoying the extended summer weather. Room had a great balcony and view of the ocean. Short walk to enjoy the beach, we went down for three walks in one day. Enjoyed a beautiful sunset and also enjoyed the beach in the dark. Went into Tofino and bought some lovely groceries and made a beautiful meal on the barbeques. Room is made for families. We had two couples so one couple got the huge loft with ensuite and the other couple had small dark corner bedroom, no ensuite but this was no problem. Toiletries were great, bought some shampoo and conditioner on the way out. Love the robes, would have liked to have one of those as well. One of the most beautiful beach destinations in the world, enjoy.

We have stayed at this resort 2-3 times a year since it opened and no question it is situated on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

However, we have noticed in the past couple of stays and specifically the most recent that the quality of the furniture, appliances, and other typical hotel items has significantly declined.

The couch was ripped and completely sagged, utensils were dull and rusty, the kitchen sink was broken, and the fireplace only turned on when it wanted to which to me seemed a bit more of a serious issue.

And stay away from unit # 19, or any on ground floor at the ends of the buildings - there are stairs that go up to the 2nd level and it is souper noisy as people run up and down them, right on the same wall as your fireplace. Same rush hour time starting at 9am as people are checking out, so if you like to sleep in this won't be the case.

All in all, when I raised this with the hotel staff, she said "well we are in the midst of doing our fall repairs" and brushed us off without further adue. Really did not sit well with us since we have been steady repeat customers from the beginning - so their attitude was less than favourable and leads me to believe that they are relying on the destination alone, and not any type of customer service whatsoever.

My wife and I stayed here for a quick get away after our wedding. We got a great deal online with a coupon vendor and it was a good decision. It was a great decision and a good start to our wedding. The property is beautiful and very close to the beach. The rooms are well appointed and its like having a nice apartment in Yaletown (Vancouver). Everything on here from the other readers is accurate. If you want to do your own cooking, and would like a bigger place, this is the one for you. The atmosphere is very casual and laid back and most of all relaxing.

Room Tip: All the rooms are close to the beach. You do not need an ocean view. They have one and two bedroo...
