Our visit was characterized by inexplicably slow service - from both kitchen and waitstaff - despite an under-capacity crowd. It took an hour for our orders to arrive, with appetizers and main courses delivered almost simultaneously; when they did hit the table, the bland, forgettable mains did not prove up to their inflated price tags.

Skip it. There are so many great restaurants on Salt Spring, and life is too short to waste any of it waiting around here.

“Good food and great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

Some of the best mussels we've had with a delicious broth. My wife had the clam linguine and I tried their version of the puttanesca - an all time favorite of mine. Neither dish disappointed. The service was good, the patio very comfortable and the view beautiful. They also have a nice wine list. Prices are reasonable and servings are healthy. We would return.

“Great Food, Bad service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

This restaurant appears to have it all, great location, great menu, we had lunch there today, the food was fresh, excellent quality, the service however left a lot to be desired, they were busy,we waited 15 minutes for drinks and to have our order taken and a further 45 minutes for two sandwiches! the soup portion of our meal was replaced by a totally different soup with no explanation. My husband pointed out that other patrons who arrived later had been served before us and she said "sorry but you came at a busy time and they didn't"!! . We paid the bill and told the manager, he really couldn't have cared less, never once an apology , so even though the food was great we will not be returning to Auntie Pesto's Cafe.

“Good service and quality cuisine.”

My wife and I dropped in for lunch during our SSI vacation. We were not disappointed. The chef here obviously takes care in what they produce. Reasonably priced as well.

“A Great Lunch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Our extended family of seven (five adults and two teens) recently had a most enjoyable lunch on a busy Saturday Market Day. We were worried it would be too busy and we would get slow service. Our server, however, was most attentive during our two hour meal. The menu was mainly Italian - not too extensive but we felt there were sufficient options. I had the Salt Spring Island mussels which were fantastic. Three others had a fabulous pasta dish, one had a panini, one had the soup and salmon sandwich and one had the meatball sandwich. All said their meals were great. The desserts were wonderful as well and the coffees were a huge hit. The atmosphere was very casual and relaxing. We were seated indoors but against the window so we had a nice view of the harbour. The location was extremely convenient to the Market and the shops in downtown Ganges. We all left very full and satisfied and wishing this restaurant was in our own hometown. We felt the prices were reasonable and good value.
