“Great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

My daughter and I recently spent 2 nights at the Harbour House Hotel Restaurant & Organic Farm on Salt Spring Island. The excellent customer service began with my initial contact on the phone with Dave. After our arrival we experienced amazingly friendly and helpful interactions with the rest of the desk, housekeeping and restaurant staff throughout our stay. The view from the room was excellent, the restaurant comfortable and the food outstanding. We will definitely stay here when we return in the spring!

A very comfortable stay with staff attentive and genuinely friendly, which seems to reflect the character of all the Islanders we met. The food from the restaurant was plentiful, delicious, and well-presented, augmented by the attentive service of the staff (thank you, John!). The view of the harbor was unmatched. Sleep disturbed the first night because of a wedding party in the room next door. Following nights were fine.

Room Tip: Choose rooms with the harbour view. You won't be disappointed.

I booked into the property for a Friday night stay while working on the Island, at first the reception said they did not have business or government rates however on arrival my rate reflected a discount based on my work.
Reception was friendly and attentive.
The facility is a refurbished older building not lacking in charm and the room furnished simply. Very clean but dated and noisy from piping and other related equipment, not too noisy to sleep but there in the back ground, perhaps reflecting my cheapskate status.
The restaurant is a gem, excellent service and delicious food with a view down the harbour to match.

Room Tip: If you are there for fun, get a front property room with a view.

My partner and I stayed at the Harbour House Hotel in Ganges in the spring; we took our bikes on the ferry for a two-night stay on Saltspring Island. I had bought the hotel package as a Groupon and it was such a wonderful getaway! Ganges is a pretty sleepy place in the spring anyway; we did a lot of sleeping and relaxing, with some bike rides (we went to Saltspring Island Goat Cheese) thrown in as well. It was a quiet, relaxing hotel, although as a disclaimer the rooms aren't as nice as they seem in the photos. However, they are perfectly serviceable and were great for us.

What really made our trip was the quiet location and the wonderful concept behind the Harbour House Hotel's restaurant. The back of the hotel is all an organic farm and they really try to keep the menu as fresh and local (as in backyard local) as possible. *Delicious*, quality food.

We would definitely go back. Just know the decor isn't super modern and is a little run down.

Had a working meeting - good rooms and friendly service - snacks and drinks good, printing of copies easy during meeting, nice meeting room. Very good in-house restaurant. Lots of other choices in Ganges within very pleasant 10 minutes walk. Lots of pleasant walks and things to do during longer breaks during the day , and continue meetings into the evening. Shops close.

Room Tip: gas fireplaces are nice, harbour view is nice

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in mid september and loved our stay. We wanted to stay in Ganges and this was the only place available when we booked our stay a few days in advance. We had friendly service the entire time, both with the hotel staff and restaurant staff. Our room was nice, clean and even though we were on the ground floor, had a nice view. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the room. The furnishings were nice, the bed comfortable, the carpet was new looking. We liked having a ground floor room as we could bring our bikes to our door to pack them. They had a secure locker for storing bikes by the back door as well. We loved the location, 2 blocks from the very busy center of Ganges, it was quiet compared to that and were happy we ended up at this hotel once we were on the island and could see the alternatives. We would choose this hotel again for sure.
And of course the restaurant was excellent. Really good food and choices and service. We only wish we could have eaten there more.

Worn furniture, tired decor, TV from the 80s. Bath is so small the sink is in the room corridor. Dirty screens. All for a very long price of $129 plus tax. Never again! *********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
