“Nothing fancy!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

It's nothing fancy but the salad rolls are excellent & the Won Ton soup is good too. They have Chinese or Japanese or Thai food.If Jimmy's Restaurant is closed I go there & pick up food to go. It's still better then the bigger restaurants on Main street which I can't stand..the girl at the register could smile once in awhile that would make it more enjoyable. They do a huge take out..I see people coming & going all day. Over all the food is OK.. nothing to write home about.Sushi is OK too but you can get sushi anywhere in Penticton probably cheaper then here. For the quality of food you get I'd rather spend a little more & go to Jimmy's Restaurant on the corner. To say this is the best place in Penticton is a stretch but it's not bad by any means. It was the best before Jimmy's came along now I'd say it's second best.I know my Chinese food & this is not the best I've ever had.Coming from Richmond BC where there are Chinese food restaurants are on every block I know what real Chinese food is supposed to taste like.. Sorry this isn't it but neither are the other restaurants in Penticton which are worse.Believe me I have tried them all. I haven't tried everything but what I have tried is OK.

“Definitely will come back.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014 via mobile

Had the daily noodles special and Tom Kha Kai soup. The food was tasty. The vegetables was very fresh. This an open kitchen restaurant and you can see the whole cooking line. The kitchen was very clean. This is the cleanest restaurant I have ever seen. It is run by a husband and wife team. Good job.

“Best in Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

We have been coming here for 10 years now, the best pad thai and war wonton soup. We can tell you, this is the Best restaurant food in Penticton by far!!! It has nice eat in, but does a huge take out, we get take out all summer, we have the best beaches in Canada, why not enjoy them with a take out lunch... :-)

“Extremely uneven, borderline strange food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Lee's is just... strange. From the name, which does not have restaurant anywhere within it, to the big window signs advertising Oriental groceries (!!!) it's a fairly weird place. When it comes to the food, it's just as bizarre. The first warning should have come when I was informed that the Pad Thai was a homemade sauce. Yes, there was a sauce on the dish of barely fried, greasy rice noodles but there was no even remotely identifiable key Pad Thai ingredients such as tamarind, eggs, or nam pla, and certainly no peanuts or lime. What there was on the plate was an excess of drizzled sesame oil (sorry, but I can't stand sesame oil) and enough sweetness to qualify as a dessert noodle dish. I can also pretty well guarantee that the sweet was not the traditional palm sugar but refined white. Sure it was a plate of Asian noodles but Pad Thai it most certainly was not. All of this culinary leger de main is tantamount to making a bolognese sauce and serving it as turkey gravy. Sure, it's a sauce and, yup, it can be fairly tasty, but it's not what the nomenclature would lead anyone to believe that it is. When it comes to the rolls, the fillings seem to be ok if a tiny bit on the meagre side, but the rice is bland and fairly undercooked and the nori is quite chewy rather than supple. The sunomono is also unusual due to the inclusion of mango slices. If this was Tokyo, London, or NYC, I'd say that the cook is trying to make a name for himself by veering a bit off from the norm and even though largely unsuccessful at least you have to give him points for effort, but given that it's Penticton, I'll just have to say that it's WEIRD!
