“Harsh reviews... are all true.”
Potential. One word. Two different was of looking at it. This could potentially be the worst restaurant experience in Penticton with the potential to be the best.... It's a slap in the face when the Greyhound "Bus Depot Cafe" (among other fast food) places 20 positions higher than you on Tripadvisor and you sit in almost last place at #54 (and by the way the Barking Parrot Bar/Lounge is at #52.... another disappointment at this Hotel)... A Multi Million dollar restaurant being beat out by run down bus dept cafes... It's time someone did something about this... The commentary on this site is not false and is truly indicative of what is going on there.
The restaurant itself and the views offered are stunning, yet the pros end there...
It is clear that management and ownership either don't care about the restaurant because it is busy during summer months or it could be because they are too stubborn and don't like listening to customer complaints and reviews. I have eaten here too many times. Each time I leave there promising myself it will be the last, yet I somehow find myself back there to try it again. I've been there 4 times. 4 times too many.
It is such a shame to have such a great property and have service and food that could be so much better. When you comment to the staff on your experience, the care is not there. I just don't get it.
It is unbelievable that you have a supposed great Executive chef pumping out such lacklustre food. Perhaps it's time to find a new one, or to get him back in there and get his hands dirty running and cooking in the kitchen. Then maybe the food will come out as he has envisioned it... and I hope he has vision. The menu sound great, but underwhelms when the plate arrives.
Management needs to micromanage a bit more... Ooooo "micromanage" such a bad word... But truthfully whatever approach the manager is taking is not working, because the service is terrible. Smarten up the servers, get some policies in place and hawk over them until they get it right.
In any case, go try it for yourself and let me know what you think... Maybe it is better now... but then again, that's what I always think when I find myself saying "ok" when asked to go to the "Hood"...
Better choices in Penticton, pick one.
** As a disclaimer... In all fairness, the food here is not worse than Denny's or other greasy spoons or cafes... but the expectation of better food in an establishment such as this at the prices they charge is what makes this potentially the most disappointing place in the city.
