“Great Experience Twice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2011

I recently had two separate business trips to Nanaimo and stayed at the Coast Bastion Inn both times. The hotel is in a fabulous location and both times I was provided with excellent views of the ocean. Compounding this, I found staff extremely helpful and personable and felt very well taken care of. The rooms are spacious, clean and their rates very reasonable. This is definitely where I would recommend friends, colleagues and family to stay.

we have stayed here on and off since it opened, some bad (car stolen from arcade) some good (upgrades) Best room service food ever from Minnows. Had room service for a clubhouse. BEAUTIFUL!! Artisan cranberry bread, full chicken breast, smoked ham.... TASTY

Room Tip: higher up, nicer rooms, not a west coaster, ask for water view

It was wonderful to have a hotel just get it right for once! Friendly check in, a clean room, beautiful furnishings, high speed internet. Everything I needed :)

I was definitely a happy traveller :)

likes:
I liked the location, the views from the balcony terrace, the breakfast, the waitstaff, the proximity to downtown attractions, clean rooms
dislikes:
overall price was not worth it when you consider what you are getting

Room Tip: a better view can be had by staying higher up but you'll pay for that view

I stayed in a premium king harbourview room on the 14th floor. The room was nicely decorated and feaured an expansive view of the harbour. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was nicely fitted out, with a good shower and very ample bath products. This is an older property that has been effectively rejuvenated. Its age only shows in the elevator and hallway areas, which are a bit tired, although very clean and well kept. The room was quiet in terms of noise from other guests, but you will get a bit of wind noise in bad weather when you are up that high. Check-in was smooth and friendly. The parking is a bit far from the actual hotel, but once the elevator to the walkway from parkade to hotel is fixed that inconvenience should be lessened. Very handy to Nanaimo's reinvigorated downtown shopping district.

Room Tip: Harbourview rooms are well worth any extra cost - the view is stunning

Stayed here one night in Nov 2011. The room (Superior Queen) was clean and quiet and had an extremely comfortable bed, pillows and linens. Beautiful view over the harbour. Dined at Minnoz Restaurant off the lobby, good food (dinner) and service. Guest parking lot is a bit tough to find - park outside the hotel on the street, dash in and they will give you a map to the parking lot (it has a pedestrian entrance to the hotel).

The staff are great for service, the rooms are clean, and other family members recommended this hotel to me. I've had a couple visits here in the last two months, each stay being 4-5 days.

To me it was just a place to stay, but they make it more than that with dedicated service. You ask for something, and it's there. A simple thing like extra pillows, tell the desk how many you want, and they have them at your room in minutes. (see the picture of my bed with 10 pillows)

The restaurant off the lobby has great food, and of course they run it up to your room on a timely basis. After hours you're limited to a few pre-made items that they heat up, but even that hits the spot at 3:00 AM.

My parents rave about the rooms with the hot tubs, I think they have 4 rooms like that, but I didn't see one. My rooms have been very comfortable, clean, and with a great view.

I get off the float plane and the hotel is right there. Very convenient.

Room Tip: Go high with a harbour view. You get to watch the planes and boats move in a never ending choreograp...
