“Outstanding food, service and atmosphere”

The food, eclectic atmosphere and overall experience makes me want to go back. I stopped at Pirate Chips en route to the BC Ferry and ordered one piece of cod and chips and a coke – cost $9.50 with all tx. The food was served up quickly (about 5 min). The owner was there and she was very friendly and helpful with our questions on the local area. Fish was lightly battered and the fries were awesome. I did not try the poutine but watched her make it for another customer. I will order it next time, fresh cheese curds are used and the gravy (I did try that) was vegetarian and delicious. It looked like Montreal poutine, true and authentic. Well worth the stop.

“You Must Go!!!”

Went to Pirate Chips on a Thursday night. Ordered two pieces of cod with chips, $13.50. What I got was one of the most unforgettable eating (not quite dining) experiences ever. Fresh, hand battered before your eyes codfish with enough fresh cut (pre blanched) fries to feed a small army. Absolutely the best fish & chips I have ever had!!! The seating area is small (about 8 seats lined up along a counter next to the window), but who cares! You are swept away with the food. Oh, and the tarter sauce, the flavor of the dill comes through nicely. It is also freshly made. A liter of Coke was only $2.50! I went back on Saturday, the fish was a little overcooked, but was still excellent. Hint on ordering- Get one order of fish & chips and add extra pieces of fish to your order for more people. There are enough fries (literally a full kilo) for a family of four with big appetites.
