Had the opportunity to eat here on three occasions of late, all were lunches and single while working in the area, so I've yet to visit for a couples or group dinner. The decor is modern with a little techno feel due to the softly changing accent lights. Clever continuity of the design extends from the decor to the tables and down to the menu, utilizing the circular theme. You are greeted at the door by youthful and friendly hostesses, with choices for lounge, dining room or (weather permitting) gorgeous lake front patio. The wall of windows opens completely to give a truly expansive room, bringing that lakeside feeling right up to the tables. Service was good, staff dressed in dark jeans and black button down shirts, friendly and knowledgeable, as I received good descriptions and suggestive selling.
First time round I enjoyed one of their pizzas. Simple, tasty and filling they offer 6 standard choices which I was allowed to alter slightly (adding mushrooms). Second time I ventured to sample the Cauliflower & Ale soup with mini grilled cheese. The blend of soft brie and provolone was quite unique and yes, I did dip my grill cheese! Last time I ordered the mushroom risotto with pickled chanterelle mushrooms. Quite a different flavour, but the real disappointment was the portion size. This should be listed as an appy, even though a risotto can be filling, I was still sitting quite hungry thinking I should have ordered it with grilled chicken or perhaps a double - and yet for $18, it was not a value to enjoyable ratio.
Hence why I give them an average. The decor, overall feeling, service and menu diversity are good to better, but the dollar value is not good, guessing that is serves the purpose of a resort style hotel - dining / lounge facility catering to out of town guests. The better than average setting is stunning! With just a little trimming of the prices and perhaps some better local marketing it could become an icon in the Kelowna and Okanagan market place - but then, perhaps too busy for the tourist traffic. A conundrum indeed.
