“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2008

Stayed here for 2 nights . Everything appeared to be brand new. Beds were comfortable, with white fresh linens. Wired internet worked well on our lap top, and 2 computers available in the lobby with printers.
Breakfast was one of the best we've had at a chain hotel, with premade omelletes, hard boiled eggs, waffles, cheese, as well as all the usual breakfast fare.
Staff was extremely friendly.
Morning paper included. Large flat screen television. If you don't mind not be located on the lake, this is an excellent choice.
Would definitely recommend it!

We used Marriott Rewards points for our stay on Labor Day weekend. Pros: the fun waterslide and hot tub; clean, updated room; fresh waffles at breakfast; free newspaper and parking; location is far away from the seediness of downtown. Cons: bath towels are flimsy.

I was concerned about our room being on the fourth floor near the elevator, but we were not bothered by noise at all.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Joey's Global Grill directly across the street from the hotel. We also dined at Earl's on the Top in downtown Kelowna, but the food and service were not as good as what we experienced at another Earl's in Surrey, BC.

Downtown Kelowna at 8:00 p.m. had a vibe that we did not care for. While there were lots of families out and about, there were also many uncouth young men on the prowl. We witnessed one greasy-looking guy hit on two young women who were seated outside a restaurant and another guy shrieking from the backseat of a car zooming by while flipping off a family on the sidewalk. There were also several vagrants loitering, one of whom followed us for awhile. I didn't feel particularly safe or interested in seeing more of the downtown.

As others have said, this is a fairly new hotel, so there is little to find fault with as far as room finish and amenities are concerned. We had a two night stay and our room was clean and comfortable. We were on the first floor, so had a very high ceiling (not sure if other floors were the same), which added to the feeling of space. The weather was warm, but we found the air conditioning worked just fine. Staff were friendly.

The breakfast was of good quality for one that is included in the rate. First morning, space was at a premium, but the hotel cant control when people come down for breakfast and that day, everyone had slept in it appeared, so you had to eat standing up or take it back to your room. While the hotel is away from the lake, it is easy to find and benefits from a range of fairly decent restaurants all within walking distance, which is great if you like a drink with dinner.

The only negative we could find was the size of the pool (very small). There is a large waterslide and that is very popular with the younger kids, but our teenagers just wanted to lay in the pool, but with the small size there was very little space away from the slide landing area, so they gave up on using the pool. The hotel did have a life guard on duty, which is great for parents of little kids (probably because of school holiday time).

  • Liked — Quality of room finish
  • Disliked — Size of the pool

Being a newer hotel, the room was clean and the furniture was in good shape. Flat screen LCD TV was a plus. I've stayed at the Marriott, Courtyard, Fairfield and Residence Inns before and the Fairfield in Kelowna did not disappoint. Staff was friendly, free wireless internet, pool, complimentary breakfast were positives. The one thing I can see as a negative is the price. The one-night stay was close to $200CAD. Don't get me wrong, I personally think that it was worth it, but I'm not sure if the Fairfield is $200 a night hotel. I stayed at a Holiday Inn at Westbank for $130 on the return trip and it was quite comparable.

The air conditioning did not work at all in the first room and did not work well in the second room. The excuse I got was that it was a "new" hotel. Being part of a hotel company with some 80 years experience in the hotel industry, I should think they would know which brands of air conditioners are good and which brand is bad.

The internet was pretty flakey and in fact pretty much unusable...something I traced to their provider having troubles for months on end.

As far as breakfast was concerned, it would have been fine, but they were not equipped to deal with the number of people eating at the time...so plates/food/etc were not available in a timely basis.

I would try the hotel again, but if these problems were to show themselves again, that would be it....

  • Liked — The location was nice, bed comfortable, facility could be nice if it were better run.
  • Disliked — Staff not very fast or committed to fixing problems, instead giving excuses.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites during the Thanksgiving Weekend. We had a great time in Kelowna and the weather was beautiful. The outdoor pool, waterslide and hot tub were well used during the week end despite it being October. Some of the pluses of the hotel were the pool, hot tub and waterslide, complimentary internet use with 2 computers in the lobby area, it is a fairly new hotel and is well located near shopping and restaurants. On the downside, the hotel was busy and the cleaning staff didn't keep up on the cleaning of the common areas - the lobby, hallway and elevator carpets were not vacuumed enough and there were stains on the carpets in these areas. There was a girl's hockey team staying on our floor and they were very noisy - running down the halls and generally taking over the hotel. The positives outweigh the negatives and if the price were right we would stay here again.

  • Liked — New hotel, outdoor pool, hot tub and water slide
  • Disliked — Common areas were not as clean as they could be

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Kelowna this Thanksgiving weekend (Sunday, October 7th, 2007) and would not hesitate to return. We got a weekend rate for a suite with a king-size bed and sofa bed and have the best sleep ever! The room was extremely quiet, complimentary newspaper delivered in the morning. The bathroom is clean, bright and new. The furniture was new and the suite was tastefully decorated. We loved the five pillows on the bed, some of them were feather pillows and super comfy.
The free continental breakfast had a variety of foods including hard boiled eggs, make-your-own waffles and 4 types of juice.

  • Liked — Super clean, new furnishings, comfortable bed
  • Disliked — Nothing
