We recently visited Kelowna as part of a driving holiday through BC and Alberta. One of the highlights being our stay at the Lakeshore B&B. The innkeepers Louise and Andy make you feel most welcome at their beautiful lakeside home. The aspect of which has to be seen to be believed for a B&B. We stayed in the Lakeshore Room, which was very spacious it has it’s own beautiful bathroom which was very well appointed. Outside there is a lovely balcony with views over the garden to the lake. Andy and Louise make you feel right at home and offer the use of their Kayaks, Canoe, Pedal Boat, Sun Chairs etc.; their garden is a tranquil place to relax. Louise gave us some very good tips on eating out; one being the hotel up the road called Manteo (not usual hotel food). We ate on the terrace next to the lake, and watched the beautiful sunset. Her second tip was Mahdinas, a lovely bistro type restaurant in Tutt Street. A little off the beaten track (but only about 10mins from the B&B) as far as tourists are concerned but well worth the visit. The food was perfect and the service excellent. We also hired a speedboat at Manteo so that we could explore the lake. Again well worth doing. There are good local wineries to check out. We liked St Hubertus and bought a couple of their wines, red and white both were delicious – we should have bought more! Louise serves a really good breakfast and you will not leave her table hungry. She keeps a spotless home and still manages to make apricot jam and bottle fruit!
To sum up: there is plenty to do in Kelowna; we were there for only 3 nights which is nowhere near long enough, but we are already planning a return trip and would look no further than the Lakeshore B&B. Pat and Ged, Chester, England.
