“Prestige Inn is Misnamed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2007

We stayed at the Prestige Inn for a weekend in August 2007. It calls itself a four and a half star hotel, but is only a two or three star hotel at the very most. My biggest complaint was the lumpy bed. The mattress was sooo uncomfortable that we woke up repeatedly throughout the night and spent our days feeling tired and stiff! The room smelled musty and the coffee maker was so festy that I didn't dare use it. The only thing good about the hotel was its central location. It is directly across from the lake and park (but watch out for street people), and just a short walk from a lovely selection of downtown restaurants. Unfortunately very few rooms (if any) face the lake, and most look out over a six lane street or a grubby alley. Without a major facelift, we will not be returning.

Our stay at the Prestige Hotel in Kelowna was very disappointing! The hotel rates itself as a 41/2 star hotel-- laughable! There is no way it should be rated any higher than 2 or 3 stars. From the get go, the greeting from the hotel staff was much less than enthusiastic. The hotel is surprisingly run down and the pool and gym area leaves much to be desired as it is dingy, dirty and smelly. The room wasn't bad, but the patio was very dirty with pigeons nesting beside the patio table. To top it off, at the end of the stay, i was charged $10 more per night than i was quoted when i booked. When i spoke to the manager, David, about this, he was very unprofessional and not at all helpful. I would have been satisfied with my stay, despite the hotel amenities lacking, had the customer service at least been good. This hotel is WAY over-priced for what it offers, especially since the customer service is lagging! I stayed here because it was in my entertainment book and offered a discounted rate with the entertainment card, but trust me, it's not at all worth it. You could definitely stay at a more decent hotel for the same price, or at least with decent customer service!! It's really a shame that a hotel in such a central, downtown location in Kelowna does not live up to tourist expectations.

they give discounts for hospital stays, thats the good news. lets make this quick and painless, pool was cold, hot tub didn't work, restaurant was way over priced, room was very small and the traffic noise had me up at 4 every morning. There is a hostel on both sides, and vagrents walking all over the place. The room service left me with cold food and I had to wait an hour for coffee. The resturant was high priced for what you got, $3 for OJ or coffee, and was mostly luke warm at best. we will go back to Kelowna, but the Grand or even Super 8 is where we will stay.

I took my family on a vacation at Kelowna in July 2005. The hotel is situated across from the city park and play area where local folks and visitors can enjoy a nice day there. The hotel is meters away from the bridge to the "West Bank" and for that reason its very conveniently located. Shopping malls are approximately 10 minutes away by car.

The hotel itself has seen better days in terms of its decor and facility. The room we had was clean but needs newer beds and furniture. The indoor swimming pool was OK in size but lighting was rather inadequate. The whirl pool didn't work. The staff are friendly and they try to make the best out of what they have.

Overall I think our experience with the hotel was pleasant. I would, however, recommend the Holiday Inn Express which is a more modern and reasonably priced accommodation.

Everyone owes himself/herself a visit to Kelowna.

Hotel is located in a nice location (close to the lake), but the area isn't so nice after dark if you plan to walk around. The room was smaller than at our last visit, and needed some TLC as the wallpaper was coming off the walls. Overall, it was OK, but would recommend a local B&B for a little bit more money in a second.

This Hotel is old and tired and is not being maintained. It is hard on the highway so it is very noisy. It is surrounded by a dying downtown (most businesses have moved out on the highway) and a park on the waterfront which is frequented by drug addicts and transients.

Our room had broken mirrored closet doors that did not work. Since there was no maintenance staff or person the front desk clerk removed them when his shift was done that evening. Also the balcony is enclosed and the windows are filthy.

The second night we were next to a group of party boys who were drunk and continued to slam doors and bounce off the walls. We complained but by the time someone checked it out they had gone out for the rest of the evening only to return even noisier at 2:30am waking up the whole floor.

When checking out the hotels attitude is we are booked most of the time so too bad for you. Guest service is not a priority to them. My advice is stay somewhere else.
